Thank you Hal. I appreciate your descriptions of wounds. People need to realize that wounds can be disfiguring, debilitating, and take a long time to heal. Some victims need extensive therapy, surgeries, skin grafts, prosthetic limbs, etc. And the psychological trauma can last many years. There is always a chance of gangrene setting in. i hate when some people say..... "Dont worry about sharks. They just take a bite and let you go." I am an experienced triage and wound care Nurse. It makes me sick when people think a shark bite would be no big deal.

I’ve already commented, but I really want to say, and it’s not the first time I’ve noticed by far, but surfers are the baddest mF’ers out there! Another question for the bastards that cut off that tiger sharks head is "why'd they even do that in the first place?" That poor shark didn't deserve that. The shark pulling that guy out of a boat did happen in the everglades. Tracking Sharks did a video about it. Aloha Hal! I had to wince at the memories that the Shark attack at Hapuna Beach, Big Island brought back! First, I'm surprised that the attack happened in such shallow water, but I guess that may be where many Sharks hunt. Back in High School, those of us on the Swim Team had to come to our Boarding school early every year to attend our "Swim Camp" for a week or so before the actual Semester began. Our Coach took us daily down a Windy( car sick type) road to Hapuna Beach. It was gorgeous, no rocks, huge, Crystal clear water. Yet for all its beauty,, it was deceiving. We were required to swim laps from one end of the beach to the other, get out, RUN to the other end, dive back in and SWIM again to the end ..10 or 12×! We ALL hated it!! The Coach required we be waaaaay out there where the water was 20+ feet deep(open Ocean swimming 🏊♂️), it would have been JUST as effective of a workout if we were closer to shore! All I could think about was some huge Tiger shark coming up out of nowhere and ending it all! 😳They did not have Lifeguards then either. Other days we took a sickening🤮 windy road about 20 miles thru the Boonies to the Community Pool to swim 7 miles per practice. At least there weren't Tiger Sharks in the Pool!☺🦈I hope that Ken recovered ok from his injuries & returns to Hawaii again to enjoy the Ocean.
