To answer Jim's question, most German tanks from WW2 had Maybach engines, but Bo is correct that the Porsche Tiger had two V10 Porsche engines each powering an electric motor. The plant Maybach ran at Friedrichshafen was bombed quite heavily during the war. After the war, they were rebranded as MTU Friedrichshafen, who made engines for the Leopard 1s and make engines for the Leopard 2s and many other vehicles

Indeed. The Tiger (P) was a multicompany model since electric motors were sourced from Siemens, the suspension from Skoda, and engine from Simmering-Graz-Pauker AG. There was a trial version with Hydro-mechanic transmission supplied by Voith company. the hydraulic transmission would have been half the weight but equally if not even more bulky, and had only 2 speed initially designed. In 2000 km test run on a ferdy hull, the hydraulic transmission was proven even more tempremental, and unreliable than stock Tiger E transmission. Further The Porsche did make a final reserve plan to convert from the aircooled V10 to liquid cooled engines in lates stages of R&D in march 1942. around and during 1944 Porsche-Tigers that were still in service were taken back to the factory and were converted to use Maybach engines sourced form Pz 4s (Maybach HL120).

Fun DMV story for Jim....something he would understand having an aneurysm over too. Went in to renew my CDL last year. Went through all their BS and sat for like 4 hours. Got my new license, looked at it, and no longer had a Class A CDL, in fact had NO CDL. About had a Karen moment on the poor lady at the desk. Somehow the computer glitched when they put it in, took another hour but walked out with my Class A.

fun tidbit, the VK45.01 (P) equipped with 2 v10 type 101 Porsche engines. there were 10 tanks built, 1 of which served as a command vehicle, and 90 hulls were assembled and then later converted into elefants and ferdinands. it had a whopping 612hp total and an operational range of only 65 miles.

I use Logitech MX Ergo which basically is a roller ball mouse. With the exception you use your thumb to roll the ball. Otherwise it is nice, but you'll have to clean the laser from time to time with air.. xP

I have this tank and I don't know what to think about it. its advantage is good speed and good reverse. When it comes to armor, paradoxically, the Porsche reflects less than an ordinary Tiger H. One accurate hit on the commander's cupola and we return to the garage, and the cupola is so large that it can be hit even from a distance. Positioning at an angle is also not possible, because then we get into weak side angles of the armor. Additionally, the front plate of the turret and the gun mantlet lets everything in - much more than in a regular Tiger. Overall, I wouldn't buy this tank again. On the plus side - it looks very nice.
