Great question Jonathan. Injecting Botox into the buccinator muscle won't result in a slimming the face down as it's really the fat, also known as buccal fat, that causes the face to be more round and have less definition rather than the buccinator muscle. Hence the trend-, buccal fat removal.

it can, but you could counter this with a little front cheek filler. best to maintain masseter botox and use tightening treatments like radio-frequency to reduce jowls sagging.

I think I likely needed more units then what were given however, the amount that I did have was quite expensive and based on minimal differences that I did see from the injected amount, I was sure that the treatment was worth it.

There is jawline surgery, popular in Korea for a permanent change. Otherwise, botox works for on average 3-6 months. It really varies for each person. And no, it's a gradual change back to your natural face shape as your body breaks it down.

I’ts not a permanent effect as Botox is temporary. However after treating the muscle a few times at high dosages it can last for several months.

Also, I always make sure that my patients muscles are strong before doing more so that they don’t get that atrophy after, the muscle helps support our jowls. You don’t want to over treat this area because it gives support to the lower face jowl area.

@@zainabkhan2758 i can see that it may require less with time if the muscle gets trained, but after 6 and it’s permanent is pretty bold statement to make about masseter Botox. Longevity also likely has to do with dosage or how many units used. Botox is not permanent, period.

Is there any physical therapy other than botox and surgery to decrease the masseter muscle. I'm still a student so I can't afford both of those options right now. My right side masseter is quite enlarged making my face asymmetrical. It's giving me self esteem issues to the point that I've stopped looking in the mirror.
