Even though Botswana is one of Africa’s biggest success stories, many people in the country still struggle with severe poverty. The reason for this is that while Botswana has gained independence, it hasn’t fully realized that outsiders continue to control much of its wealth-now under the name of “investors” instead of “invaders.” Botswana has many talented and intelligent people who could manage and mine their own resources, like diamonds, to benefit the country. But because foreign investors hold much of the power, Botswana’s wealth is often taken out of the country instead of helping its own people. If Botswana could develop its own industries and retain control over its resources, it could ensure that this wealth stays within the country and benefits everyone. To truly reach its potential, Botswana may need to rethink its reliance on foreign investors and focus on empowering its own citizens to manage, mine, and protect its valuable resources for a prosperous future.
@onsie2802Ай бұрын
Botswana actively seeks out foreign direct investment. I'm sure this government will too. Roughly 2 million citizens in the country. They can't do everything by themselves. It's possible to have foreign investors and empower the citizens at the same time. That's also where BDP began to fail. Too much corruption. It's leaders became self interested and forgot the people.
@KhalidLawal-X-7-7-7Ай бұрын
@ We need to change how we see the world and start looking at it from an African perspective. Right now, the world sells us everything but rarely buys from us. Instead of relying on foreign investments, we should focus on local African investors who understand our needs and are committed to our progress. For this to work, legal and documented freedom of movement across African countries is essential. This would allow people to travel, work, and invest within Africa, creating a stronger, connected continent. The opportunities across Africa are immense. If you travel around the continent, you’ll see the incredible potential waiting to be unlocked-so many areas needing development and so many people ready to make it happen. Africa has the talent and drive to grow; we just need to support each other and invest in our own future.
