This is a clear glass antique violin wine bottle from the Monte Cassino Monastery and winery which ran from 1877-1918 in Covington, Kentucky. Some brief history : In 1877, the Benedictine Fathers, a Catholic religious order of men, purchased the winery property (76 acres) for $21,500. The Benedictines purchased the winery property in order to make altar and table wines. By the fall of 1877, a monastery building was under construction on Prospect Hill. The monastery was given the name Monte Cassino, in honor of the Benedictine’s original monastery in Italy . During its early history, Monte Cassino produced about 5,000 gallons of wine each year. The first pressing of the grapes was used to produce altar wine for use in Catholic Churches in the United States . The second and third pressings were used to produce table wine under the label ‘Red Rose Wine.’ During the Prohibition era, Monte Cassino was limited to the production of 1,000 gallons of altar wine each year. No table wine was allowed to be produced. This limitation made the winery unprofitable. In 1918, Monte Cassino was closed. The last monks left the property in 1923. Very good antique condition! Rare to find one intact.

I feel ya man I got the same work ethic, and it sucks having to go absolutely break your back all day every day while listening to everyone else complain about every little thing and can’t carry they’re own weight to save they’re life, I’m a small guy, and the first to volunteer for the worst jobs and get them done with out any BS. I can and have worked circles around about every single person I’ve ever worked with in my life, and for the same wage sometimes even less. I was taught to shut my mouth and do my job no matter what the guys next to ya are doin, and I always have. But for what? After several years it just gets old when ya don’t reap any of the benefits or get nothin out of it. But i feel better doin that than earnin money doin nothin or in a dishonest way.

I know I probably ask obvious questions but...why are there marbles in what was a dump site?
@rockscousteau4 жыл бұрын
They are on every dump i have ever dug.....in quantity. They were the most popular toy for 100 years. If you see someone on a dump digging bottles....and not finding a bunch of marbles. They do not know what they are doing....the only way you see them is taking your time....raking in the right soil conditions---there are hundreds of thousands of them on this dump still in the ground....maybe millions. Every kid had them....and over the life of a town......it gets crazy. i have trash cans (50 gallon) full of vintage marbles in my basement (all off dumps). I have not really gotten into a pocket yet where they are everywhere--i will
