They look incredible!! I'd like to make some for my colleagues, what were the diameters of the forstner bits (bigger and smaller) you used please?
@mytinyworkshop3 жыл бұрын
Really depends on the inserts you end up purchasing! The ones I purchased were 40mm in diameter, so I used that size (or slightly larger) for the exterior hole. The smaller one in the centre needs to be small enough to fit between the screw holes, and large enough to allow a gap at the actual "bite" of the bottle opener. Probably a 22 or 24mm, if I recall correctly. If it's too large, the screws won't have enough wood to dig into, and could cause a break later on.

What was the size of the two holes that you drilled into the wood?

what bottle opener insert did you use? looked like you were using screws that were longer than the inserts come with from like Amazon. amazing bottle openers!

Thanks Jacob! I used some bottle openers I found on Amazon. The included screws were not sturdy enough so I replaced them with some slightly longer #4 or #5s from the hardware store. Just had to make sure they would fit in the bevel!

Hey Tim, I think they ended up around 1" thick after all was said and done.
