Do you ever go back and watch these again? This is the kid us Thubites fell in love with - less polished, totally goofy. I am mad about the current Thub, but this guy had a charm all his own.

Today, the day after Christmas, I got up early and found hella cans and bottles. Then I heard a cop and ran home. I'll try again after new years 😂

Always enjoying checking out your vids man. That was nice of you to give that guy a bag, That's the way to be for sure!

Hey I try to remain grateful for any opportunity to help someone out. Truthfully, I was pretty irritated he asked. I got up stupid early and worked hard to earn those, and he didn't start until noon >.< he probably thought I was just bringing in my household recycling so whatever. You're right, it was the right thing to do.
@calmclam76388 жыл бұрын
Yeah I could tell you were a little irritated by that. The guys got some nerve asking you, but oh well eh you did something nice. I would guise he would probably have a hard time getting around too, so it was nice you helped him.

Cool...nice that you gave a small bag to the homeless guy. That's what it's all about making a difference in someones life.

Catching up the distant past vids, Crazy Canadian Cousin, I'm proud of what you do! Uh oh, here comes the water works, my mangina is hurting! 😂 Again this makes me proud! Since I was 4yrs been only recycling aluminum cans, now my mind is more broad in search of treasures!!!! Editing time. Subway?! Is there not a TOGO'S up there!? Again I jumped to commentaries before the vids over. I really need to watch entire video, am I right folks?! Good score and I really miss snowboarding, just don't know what happened to my Burton, dang it! 😡

hehehehehe I recognize those bins! a fellow Calgarian bottle picker. I usually get them at the 7, or C-trains. also patrol the Bow river by Stampede Station. (the path form the station to the Sports center...). lots of bottles there too. I work at the STampede (well not THIS year), and hee hee hee. There are wine crates empty that haven't been claimed next to the black dumpster so I claim that on my way home I fill my back pack up with a few of them. If they're in the recycling bing that's the STampedes (used for Stampede foundation things, ie the kids singing, the Agricultural center, etc). Also lurk around the laundry-mail buildings of the MRU... lots of bottles there. ... I actually never though going through the ally's in the blue bins actually. Flames Game night defiantly some bottles. ..

I’m amazed that you get paid for recycling cartons, plastic bottles, glass and cans. In the UK we’re expected to put it all in our recycle bins. I think if we got paid more people would actually recycle…..

I love when you explain why you do it even though the money isn't the best. Your favorite part, where you said the level of control over your time allowing you to take opportunities as they come, do you find that you never have the money to do these things since the pay is poor or do you have savings or do you generally just do cheaper things? Thanks thub, I'm really interested in trying to lead a similar lifestyle as this!
@thubprint7 жыл бұрын
2 months ago? Wow, I need to dig through comments more often, lol. I definitely find ways to have fun for free most of the time, save whatever I can, and work towards positioning myself so money flows towards me rather than away from. Mostly I think the trick is growing a variety of knowledge about ways to make cash so you can recognize opportunities more often. At this point I find I can afford to take trips and go out when it's important to me, although I do have to say no more often than saying yes when it comes to spending that dough. Besides, it's way more fun to spend your money on things you know you'll make more money on. ;)
@TylerStAmand-mz1lu7 жыл бұрын
Agreed, 2 months ago I started doing just digging for scrap metal and empties and stuff, here 2 months later I'm still doing it and couldn't agree more! Having multiple ways of getting money not only helps recognize opportunities, but it keeps daily life from being the same and mundane! Another thing that I think is a useful way to make extra money on the side that I have done once so far is getting involved in clinical research studies, they pay great, generally require minimal time spent (which means more time for scrapping) and you meet cool people at the hospitals or labs and learn about interesting stuff! I am in Toronto so I've been doing some at SickKids, but maybe take a look into that area for some extra money as well? Thanks for your input, you are an inspiration to people looking to lead lives without regular jobs!

@thubprint7 жыл бұрын
Oh she's got the soul of a truck for sure. Here in Calgary there are two pick and pull locations and numerous other yards, so I can't say Ive ever had a problem finding parts! Between 10 years of the vibe and the matrix, I think we're good! ;)
@cindymackay59197 жыл бұрын
Wow that's awesome :). I've been looking for a cheap manifold for a long time it's not easy especially when fundage is low. Still have my winter tires on Gus that's another cost. I wish I had a lift I'd just attempt to fix things myself. Lol.

I want to do what you do but I'm so afraid of the weird looks of people it's very embarrassing, how can I get over that fear! I'm in UK and people here mostly already rude so I would think it's going to be scary
@thubprint8 жыл бұрын
+OJA23122011 have you heard of the challenge where you buy a coffee at a Starbucks and ask for a 10% discount, just because? It's an exercise intended to build confidence and help get over social anxiety. You just have to do it, and own it! It's only awkward if you make it awkward, but if you do it a few times you become comfortable, and eventually you're just like "Yo whatup! Some nice trash up in here, amirite?"

-21?! lol. that's not a normal thing is it? How do they pay you for that stuff? By the pound or a per piece price or what? Considering everything but the metal cans you collected and sold in this video are pure garbage my brain doesnt even acknowledge as valueable because its not bought here, I would say that is an absolutley fantastic amount of money!
@tacotech7778 жыл бұрын
Oh no, yeah the whole of last week was around minus 20 but next week coming up are in for a treat of single digits
@ScrapVulture1118 жыл бұрын
sigh
@thubprint8 жыл бұрын
yeah man, that's pretty normal this time of year. it fluctuates a LOT though. Like 'K' said, we've got a solid week of +whatever now. Then back to our eyes and noses freezing shut! As for your other question, it's paid out by piece. Prices are 10c for anything 1L and under, over 1L is 25c. BC is different though, I think they get 5c under 1L, 10c for 1L and 25c over 1L. And as Vyromite pointed out, out east they only get money for alcohol containers. The thing is they charge you that much more when you buy these items and it's called the 'deposit'. It's not free money, just an attempt to drive people to recycle properly by holding a bit of their money hostage. The fact that people just throw them away despite that creates a clever little income leakage from one class of society to another ;)
