@bluengrey14 жыл бұрын
@@dtiydr Nonsense. Dolphins are much smarter than dogs. Dolphins can tell the difference between two sculptures behind a sheet with very subtle differences using their sonar. They can also understand fairly abstract ideas and communicate them between each other. In a park with sea attractions they trained dolphins to perform activities on command. One of the commands was that it was up to the dolphins to decide which activity they will do next. They would go to the bottom of the pool and communicate with each other. After a short conversation they would perform the same trick together in perfect unity. And it wasn't the same activity every time, they mixed it up depending on how they felt. Wild dolphins have also been known to save humans under shark attack or drowning. These are behaviors you don't see from untrained, wild dogs.

So happens intelligence isn't an IQ it is how adapted you are to your environment. They have no need for things that we have because their psychology and physiology are different, not because they are less intelligent. We tend to hold humans as the standard for intelligence, its probably not the best standard as Chris as pointed out; if we are so smart why are we killing each and destroying the planet in the process. Oh, we are destroying the planet and its possible to destroy a planet and unfortunately that experiment is well underway. This isn't going to very pretty in about 50-100 years. Maybe you might be around for that light to go off in your head as realize you and all the people love and care for will die.

chris caley And they couldn't if they tried. Intelligence isn't based on sentimentality towards the envrionment. SiggyMe Intelligence is how adapted you are to your environment? All hail the chameleon master race!
@SiggyMe10 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you miss the point is that with our supposedly superior intelligence we can and we are, we do, True They can't wreak the environment, so are you saying that since they can't wreak the environment and we can makes us superior? They could wreak small parts of the environment by over fishing an area. As you may notice they are very adapted by their shape to the environment they live in. However they do have sentimentality towards themselves, and others. They have held people afloat when they were in trouble. They have pushed them back to land. They recognize people with medical problems such as heart problems and pregnant women. They will spend more time with people with internal health issues which they determine by using their sonar without going to medical school. My comments aren't based on sentimentally, they are based how they use their superior intelligent differently. Being the best killers doesn't make us superior however we take great pride in it, ask Native Americans who lost the war to superior killers, not necessary superior human beings.

***** Intelligent animals don't go around killing and destroying everything in site.
@Aethuviel8 жыл бұрын
If you think that's what intelligence is, you don't know much about the topic. Virtually all animals kill. All animals are looking our for their own self-interest. There is nothing magically different about humans, we're just another species of primate.

***** You just don't get it! There is a difference between killing for food and killing for fun and profit. Humanity mainly kills for fun and profit.

30-40 years ago, Dolphins were being studied. Their sounds were recorded.Then came Flipper. Oh, my, the learning had just begun. We are making a mess of the oceans, yet there are others who try and do succeed in helping them. What amazes me, the animals who ask for help and wait patiently. I would like to see a lot of these earlier films. No HD, but interesting. That is a lot of years to go back. J. I. Cousteau, was the best. Then came the early Disney Program, at 7pm to 8pm, Sunday’s for years. Animals of all kinds that he could. Tex Ritter, I believe was the voice over. Our John Ritter’s dad. Anyway, back to the animals--thanks for your helping them.

Oh my god this is so incredible. Dolphin’s moving its fins for him, sticking close to be freed. This is so incredible. Something about this idea that some sea creatures recognizing humans in the water like this as being safe to approach, to be rescued, to request help, just fills me with soooooo much hope for this planet.

What is most amazing to me about this video is that this wild dolphin knew to seek out humans for help. And it even understood their gestures for it to approach them. Amazing!

I'm sure the dolphin was very apprehensive to approach humans in the hope of getting help but it probably felt it had no other options. It was a beautiful thing that you gave it the help it needed.

This video is so beautiful! Thanks for uploading it. It reminds me of a documentary I heard on the words of a Greek philosopher. He said that the human kind has the gift of being able to use the hands to do beautiful things which are unique in the world. What you did is a symbol of humanity and of the beautiful things we are able to do with them.

As awesome as that is, the dolphin was actually thinking "Stupid humans did this. Humans must fix it!" As he swam away, I heard, "So long, and thanks for all the fish."
@ElSelcho7710 жыл бұрын
Your logic implies, that Dolphins hold a grudge: why would it come for help?
@Chris-uf6jz10 жыл бұрын
Damian Sale He or she is referencing Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. In that book series, dolphins are the second smartest life forms on the planet. Humans are third.
@agnes99810 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nelson. I'm using the "I signaled the dolphin to come over." statement to support my judgement. It's simply common knowledge that wild dolphins would instinctively know and correctly react to human hand signals; being that they are infinitely more intelligent than we.
@aidtry18210 жыл бұрын
agnes998 After reading the last bit of your comment "so long, and thanks for all the fish" I just laughed my head off!! ROFL!!
@trillianorfner217710 жыл бұрын
***** agnes998 was quoting the brilliant late Douglas Adams, author of "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy". Fourth book in that series was, "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish" regarding dolphins. The books are great, movie was lousy, audio recordings from BBC narrated by Adams himself are fantastic!
@charliehorse86863 жыл бұрын
Amazing intelligence. He knew that the "swimming monkeys" had hands, and tools, and that they had empathy, and he even understood the diver's hand signals. He even endured extra pain while it was being removed, but he knew the outcome would be better so he didn't attack the diver through the pain. If dolphins had hands, they'd rule the world, not us.
