Have you tried these Bottom Sweeper Jigs?
They’re neat little jigs that actually sit upright on the bottom, which makes your bait stick upright, too.
They're great for rigging up baits such as:
- Fiddler crabs
- Shrimp
- Sand fleas
- Pieces of blue crab
For catching bottom-dwelling predators, like:
- Sheepshead
- Black drum
- Redfish
Tony’s been trying them out his last few trips and he just put together a review talking about the pros, cons, and when to use them.
If you’re looking for a new (and simple) way to fish live bait on the bottom, you’ll love this review.
Have you used these Bottom Sweeper Jigs?
What did you think?
Or do you have any questions about them?

These jigs are no joke. They are excellent for using any type of live bait, fiddler crabs, mud minnows or finger mullet. I just keep getting more. Your always gonna lost tackle fishing on bottom or around structure. That's just part of fishing!

I have used these smaller jigs(1/0 hooks) offshore with great results for snapper. I have also used the larger size Bottom Sweeper jigs for larger snapper and cobia. The hooks are very strong.

They work great! You lose less jigs from snags due to the shorter shank! I was on a podcast talking about them and also did a review video. (Not sponsored or paid)

Game changer for anglers targeting trophy sheepshead. Cant recommend these enough. The pros totally out weighs the cons, the small hook & shank is what makes this jig so good imo 🤙

I was in Stuart in mid June went into a tackle shop and asked if the had bottom sweeper jigs and they looked at me like I had 7 heads. I did pick up some regular jig heads and live shrimp and caught several sheepshead. I got home and ordered several sizes so the next time I go hopefully in September I'll be stocked up I hope the bait shop will have some crabs next time I go.

So I saw some today at our local tackle shop but they were like 1/4 ounce I believe marked as crappie jigs at .99 to small to get any bait on , but I was wondering if stand up jig heads would be a more costly alternative 🤔 you can get 4-5 in a pack compared to one at that price.

Do you recommend a loop or snug knot with this type of jig?
@patrickharris4641
@patrickharris4641 3 жыл бұрын
snug for better control over the jig; you aren't putting a lot of action on these and you want them to sit upright, so a snug knot is the way to go
@Snookchaser007

I second the snug knot as it also transfers the ofttimes light bite of the sheepshead better I believe

The ones (20 of them) I have all roll the the side. Not one sits flat and that is why they snag so much. Only popular because its the only one out there. Oh big another con is they take for ever and ever to get. And at $5 a pop... I think NOT.

@@scottgreatkids it's just a lightly modified tog jig. I'm planning on getting a tog jig mold and using a shorter shank hook. I've already got everything to melt lead and paint jigs. Just not worth the markup in ny opinion. It's like fishing 20 dollar spoolteks verses tsunami swimbaits. It would have to seriously outperform everything in its category for me to shell out the money.
