from memory... it's about an hour "out", an hour and half "across" and what was surprising was that it was another hour "in" through the Marlborough sounds. Just beautiful. Thanks for the memories Mike and Soph

Transmission Gully is a great road to travel on, but I did miss the sea views from the old road. I was seriously impressed you were able to turn your truck and caravan right round on the ferry. I did wonder how you got out. The Sounds look as stunning as ever. Mmmmmmm........cheese scone!!
@leopardsgowild Жыл бұрын
Lol... Yea the Cheese scone was really good. We all loved travelling through the sounds so scenic... Transmission Gully I heard was good, but very steep, you could see the inclince from Soph's parents place, which tells it's a big climb up, and likely down...

The part of the South Island you could probably see Toby was where you are now, Marfells Beach. There was talk about moving the ferry Terminal to Seddon once. If you look across the sea at night from Marfells you should see the lights of Wellington.
@leopardsgowild Жыл бұрын
Yea I think We could see the lights of Blenheim and Wellington last night... Can see the North Island pretty easy from here... I think the ferry through the sounds is pretty unique, I wonder what would happen to picton if it ever was moved?

@@leopardsgowild thats why it didn't get past a "stupid idea" phase. Just because you could move the terminal doesn't mean you should.

Great video, and a wee cameo appearance at the end 🙂 The Straitsman is a great ship for the crossing, we've used the cabins a few times for the night sailing. I've done a couple of dives in the entrance to Tory channel, gotta be careful of the current and its noisy as when the ferry goes past. Good call getting water in Picton, not a lot of options until Blenheim
