I have used the liquid electrical tape. It works really well in tight spots where you can’t easily get heat shrink or actual electrical tape. But heat shrink tubing would have been my first choice on that ground wire. I love these videos, I’ve learned a lot over the years watching you.

I’m new to the Cummins trucks and more specifically the 2nd gen and your videos have helped me a lot and inspired me to try my own build! Thank you, great content!

Love watching your videos. Tried buying my grandpa’s 2nd gen from my grandma and wouldn’t sell it to me but last winter the snow load on the shop brought it down and one of the main steel beams came down right on the cab 😢. Turns out I could just have it now🤦♂️🤦♂️. Plan on fixing it so I’m glad I found you on KZbin. Keep on saving em.

Sam, those later 2nd gen gear cases have a raised collared hole for the KDP. They are factory KDP proof. If you look inside the hole where the dowel is you can see the raised edge just inside the hole. That fix is also why those covers aren’t flat right there like a 12V gear case is and if you did use a KDP kit to add some cheap insurance you’d have the step the washer to cover the hole and still use the 10 mil headed case bolt next to it. That all said, I still do just about exactly what you did and stake that hole funky with a center punch just for my own peace of mind.

Needs a full front end....Did I hear you say money pit? What do I mean by money pit...I mean Carli Unchained level build. As a poor, I do many things in the sun also, you could have greatly benefitted from one of the cheap pop up tent deals while doing the motor work in the sun. I used one while working on farm equipment one day.

I also used a 98 2500 gasser axle to replace the one in my 3500 after the wreck. I did put new bearings which solved the dually adapter problem
@OnefastAZfarmtruck7 ай бұрын
When a drunk driver caused me to wreck at 75, the stock control arms completely folded. The axle snapped but the ranch style bumper is the only reason my truck was savable. If not it would have been toast

The way frames are pulled at a bodyshop, they are over pulled and allowed to spring back into position. pulling and leaving tension does not really do anything unless you are heating it up.. Also i changed a ram front axle for this same bent reason, the upper "C" part of the axle gets pushed open/wider causing the camber to be off.

Yes that’s what I did to the frame

Cooked the ecm on mine. Having a computer mounted to the engine block isn’t the greatest idea. Someone needs to make a relocation kit for that or something.

I’ve got about 18 months before I start seriously looking into getting another 2nd gen. Bought an 02 six speed sport from my dad with 65k for $10k back in 2010. Like an idiot I got rid of it with 109k miles 🤦♂️. I’ll be in a place within the next few years where I’ll be searching with cash in hand. I’ll have to email you or something when that time comes. After the past few years watching your videos I refuse to go to anyone else. If you’ve had it or gone through it I know it’s a solid unit that I can do routine maintenance on a drive for years and years to come.

Hey Sam, I really liked this episode. I like wreck repairs. I was thinking about your 66 Power Wagon. Why not hire a body guy to do some moonlighting and do the sanding for you in your shop. Pay him 50 bucks per hour under the table.

Why does it have CAD ? Hmm. The passenger rail on my '98 is tweaked from a wreck the PO had. 5/16 out of square but everything still fit with a bit of massaging. Aligns and drives straight. Wasn't worth messing with. I did ditch the factory axles for 01+. Muck better design and can use 3rd gen brakes and unit bearings.

If I was you when I got ready to get rid of the truck id probably try to offer to sell or deal on it to the person that got it it stolen probably the only reason after trying to keep it in good shape he got rid of it is how bad it appeared to be wrecked and the interior got all busted up....

This will be the time i will say to not fix this truck. I work in the body world and i have seen bad things. If you are going to keep the truck for you, cool, but if you plan to flip this truck should not be fixed and back on the roads. 2 bad things on this Vin, bad frame and theft recovery, great parts truck only, sorry, just my 2 thoughts. if you fix it and sell it and they insure it like they have too and then its in another accident their insurance will not pay to fix it, i see this all the time.
