Bought a used FX50S then drove it home 1,700 miles (oh the adventure)

I have a 09 FX35 with 180k miles and i love it!! Its a deep chocolate brown/purple color with dark brown interior. Its now 2024 and the body style on these just doesnt age! Super beautiful. Im just now realizing how ahead of the times this vehicle was having driver assist sensors, backup camera, among other things that cars just didnt come with in 2009. Mine is 16 years old and Im just now experiencing the dreaded "the manufacturer has stopped making parts for this car ma'am" situations so im thinking of getting a newer one. Im keeping this one of course. Lol!

You have arguably the most beautiful color of the 09+ FX/QX! Crazy how a lot of newer crossover mid size SUVs have the same shape as these 03-17 Infinitis!!! We also have a 2023 MDX lease and it doesn’t even have the overhead camera because we didn’t get the upper trim levels. I’m like even my old 07 FX35 had that stuff!! The screen resolution and camera clarity sucks, but at least I can park confidently in the old 07 and now the 09. Thanks for stopping by.

@@HardParking Yeah, I love to show out backing into parking spots like its a piece of cake. Lol. Having had 2 Mercedes SUVs in the past, I'd never go back. The only other SUV I would consider is the Genesis GV80....it's a fine machine!

I bought my 2010 FX50S brand new and still love driving it with 112000 miles on the clock. These cars were way ahead of their time. Mine has 4 wheel steering, radar cruise control and even headlights that swivel while cornering.

Love the FX50…infinity was at the peak of their time….until they decide to rename the FX and the G. The Q badging confuse the people and confuse all infinity owner. There should only be one Q….and it’s the Q45. They should all be fired!!! Worst move ever.

I got the same SES light on my dash a few weeks ago, got the current version of the replacement part from the dealership because the Autozone after-market replacement was almost 2x the dealership price (go figure)! Anywho, here's the part number Nissan part number, valve under gas tank, that cleared up SES dash light issue up for my 2009 FX50S, {14935-JF01C}.

Yeah I ended up fixing mine shortly after the video. Still rocking the bank 1 efficiency sometimes even with extenders but no other issues.

I have a 2013 FX50s, and a 2017 Q70s(this one bought new) for years owning the Q70s I didnt realized it has audio bluetooth, pair with your phone and look around it will play music with your phone, I only notice the FX50s has it because the previous owner who sold me the car it said audio bluetooth. I like that feature bc I only thought the Q70 you have to download music into USB storage then listen from there

FX50 didn’t have Bluetooth audio pairing until 2010 or 2011. I have the GROM unit in there now though.

Yep, I blew the radiator in early October and am just now getting around to fixing it. The radiators are a weak point apparently. Should have a couple videos up soon.

@HardParking OK, the 1st one I had was fx and it was good, the radiators are weak. I have an 05 6mt G35 at about 120k it went, I got an aftermarket one all aluminum. The on thing is it does burn oil Rev up motor but runs strong.

Few issues though mine has issues when reaching 3500 rpm it chokes and shakes. The whole dash is lit up as well. Only codes i see are 1. P0430 exhaust”catalyst system efficiency below threshold”which is probably dure to the fact that the previous owner did a shit job with the aftermarket exhaust 2. P0024:” “B” Camshaft position timing over advanced or system performance.

Had same issue FX50 had a bad oil issue clogging the solenoids. Dealer wanted to change the camshaft gears…said no thanks and went to local mechanic and he saw this issue on older Nissans. Changed the variable cam solenoids fixed the problem..also did an oil flush to get all the sludge oil out.

That’s awesome. I bought this 50S to replace my 07 FX35 Sport that I finally sold about a month ago. I had some issues once I got home from this road trip but most of it has been taken care of. The dashboard needs to be replaced and I need a new catalytic converter. Also. The power steering pressure hose is discontinued and that’s what cost me a lot of money to have repaired.

@@HardParking this is not too bad. As long as there is no power train issues I am happy. I got bmw x6 50i 2010 and after 2 years of light use and only maybe 5k miles I put on i got valve seals to replace, one turbo is leaking and dome other minor stuff. Nevertheless it will cost mi about 5500 USD to fix.

I’m sorry for the delayed response. Yes, I still have it and am loving it. I had to dump a couple thousand into repairs once I made it home from this trip, but thank god it didn’t have issues on the long drive at least.

@@ChinkyRoz So far the trasmission/powersteering high pressure hose (mfg discontinued, they had to rebuild the old one), leaky valve covers, needs bank1 catalytic converter (used foulers to pass emissions but now its always on), the belts needed to be replaced... the low end pressure hose is leaking but have not yet replaced it. And I had a new dashboard installed.
