Love the pronunciations of words ... Bulova and formica. Cedar chests were a big thing back in the day. We called them "hope" chests. I have one and it is a Lane. Lane Cedar can bring nice money could not tell about the out side , if it looks dry and whitesh take wide down with wood cleaner let dry then take a paste wax apply as it says let set a while take a soft clean cloth and buff of the excess paste wax then step back and see the difference, Lane chest were one of the more expensive onwes -some people called them hope chest

You shouldn’t keep or sell that piece. It wasn’t given to all troops it was to honor him specifically. His children are probably dead but you honor him and his service by trying to get that to his Grandchildren. There is a little boy on his family who school have his scrapbooks and his military records. My son cherishes everything he inherited from his Nanna. You don’t have to do as I ask you to but I would think less of you if you didn’t.
