That's a bit high with no protection. Where I come from, we don't climb more than 15 feet bouldering. It seems from the camera guy on the rope, that you could top rope most of these routes. I use my Petzl Croll and Ropeman2 for backup and scramble right up routes like that. The gear just slides right up the rope. Very good climbing, guys!
@RobbiePhillips4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, interesting points you make :) it’s worth noting that in this area of the U.K. top roping isn’t something that gets done a lot. There are several reasons for this, but one of the best in my opinion is that the rock is very soft and the tops of the crags would get worn away easily with repetitive use of top ropes. Saying that, I think it’s legit to top rope some of the harder stuff, but with this strong ethic in place and a community that abides by it, it just means climbers tackle stuff they are more likely to do than attempting climbs out of their reach. It’s a hard one to understand for people who don’t climb in areas like this, but I feel it’s important to stick by local ethics even if it does make things more dangerous at times. It’s only dangerous when you put yourself out there and for me that’s part of the fun. If you don’t want to do that scary stuff there is also lots of lowballs and easier routes or longer routes with plenty of gear that you can lead. Hope that helps clarify some things :)

So many close calls close to the top of that first boulder! Very nerve wracking. Glad you're all good. 6:31 that fall looked rough! (And by "rough" I mean "terrifying." It looks like you could've really easily broken that ankle.) 21:58 holy shit! 25:55 I know that feeling--except for me it happens at probably less than half that height. I hate falling more than maybe 12 feet outdoors, and I get scared climbing things 15 feet tall, even though the local crag is touted as a great spot for beginners and has 20ft tall V0s, lol. (My indoor gym has extremely soft, thick padding, so I don't mind falling from like 17 feet all that much, but it can still hurt.) So anyway, props to you guys.
