When I first got to know him he just started climbing like a year ago and he was already at basically professional level. And he is so dedicated to climbing but still so down-to-earth.

He’s super strong but still pros are ridiculously strong, he even acknowledges it himself

Every time I see his instagram videos, I always thought that the problem looks so easy for him. However, this gives perspective on how dedicated he is too climbing and training. Glad I found this vlog

He is awesome! Also didn't expect his english to be so perfect, is he from Korea or did he study abroad?
@BeefyBoulders5 жыл бұрын
He did mention going to New York for a few weeks for school. He's also a freelance English translator. I was really lucky he spoke English. Maybe the only way the video would have been possible.

There's a lot of Korean Americans who move back too.
@eriklindesteg98715 жыл бұрын
He must have moved to America for a while, or went to some sort of English school. Since im just thinking logically, its very hard for Koreans to speak perfectly fluent English while being stuck in Korea for most of their lives (due to our throats bilogically shapes itself based upon the language we speak, our tonal langauge etc). But he rocks at climbing
@SlavaKim5 жыл бұрын
@@eriklindesteg9871 From my understanding and experience Korean young generation actually speaks English decently well without ever going outside of the country for longer than a vacation: stringent education system, fast access to Internet, exposure to American culture. Not sure if your biological argument makes sense, I never heard of throats shaping upon the language, although I could believe it.
@eriklindesteg98715 жыл бұрын
@@SlavaKim I have to correct myself and say im basing my biological knowledge of something i have read and watched, it might not be the throat but its something around that area, due to as you agreed with the different ways we speak languages. And i agree, younger generations tend to have a better English vocabulary and a better understanding for the English language. But i would say its harder for a Korean to adapt a perfect American accent without error, due to the difference in the tones used in Korean. (I myself am Norwegian and would say im quite fluent but yet in dialogue you would catch a hint off my accent) But yes internet plays an extremely huge role, but Korea is also more Homogenous (i believe that is the correct word) compared to other more Hetergoenous societies like the one i live in. (Not bashing either society, just stating that thats just how it is) and therefore being less exposed to foreign media. But we seem to agree here :)

Hoseok seems like a particularly thoughtful and pleasant person so i hope there will be no offense taken but to me this video really highlights that strong bouldering mainly is bodyweight divided by grip strenght and good genetics regarding the way your fingers are built (leverage). These dynos to pinches are not possible because of talent but more genetic gifts. No matter how clean your technique or superior your route reading if you dont possess insane level grip strength you dont stand a chance doing those moves.
@TheEncrow5 жыл бұрын
You can train your grip strenght tho, so genetics dont matter that much
@Utigard19893 жыл бұрын
you can train to build stength in your fingers
