I really like this cocktail. I use a higher proof bourbon 102-105 to help balance out the bitterness and sweetness of Campari and sweet vermouth.

Enjoyed the vid, Dave. I see you give it an 'interesting' (grade B or C) but it's not your fave. Is there a reason you chose bourbon over rye, other than the obvious preference for corn vs rye dominance? If I were to order a boulevardier, would I have to specify to get the historical rye version these days? Completely anecdotal observation but it seems bourbon is chosen more for this concoction. Thoughts?

Thanks Bill, The reason I chose the bourbon came down to two things. The first was that most of the recipes I looked at called for bourbon, and I had the bourbon on the shelf and I was trying to keep my costs down.. I was debating picking up some Bullet Rye Whiskey to try this as well because the rye would make it sweeter. You might have to specify rye vs bourbon again possible depending on where you are and if the individual behind the bat knows how to make this. I think that more people may have gotten on to the bottled in Bond and cask strength band wagon. And that may be creating some of the Drive towards it. I have also noticed that there seems to be a trend towards cocktails that are not as sweet as well. If there is anything you would li9ke me to make please let me know.

nope...Buffalo's trace is an excellent bourbon! and very honest, considering its price!! ;)
