Looking in to a new gaming chair, and stumbled across this review. Literally the most detailed chair review I've ever seen. Gamers Nexus style 40 minute review. Kudos.

did you buy it ?
@twiggsherman36412 жыл бұрын
@@SeaUsername yes. It's horrible. The tilt mechanism grinded out of the box. They sent a replacement, and the replacement was bent, so only 3 of the holes lined up. So I just demanded a refund, then had to barter back and forth with them, because they wanted me to keep the chair and toss it and give me half the money back, or pay myself to send it back to China, not the drop center they shipped it from. So I threatened to do a charge back on my credit card, and they finally gave me a refund and I just tossed the chair as junk. If you buy it, use your credit card so you can charge back if they send you junk.

When you anxiously wait for the Barry Rowland review of the new Fanatec Podium and all you get is a gaming chair review...
@AttilaTheHun3333335 жыл бұрын
Lol, thought the same. Fanatec is nuts that they didn’t send Barry a Podium base right away. Either they are insecure about their product or I don’t know. Ordered mine last week because I’m an inpatient kid, but it makes me suspicious that there are still no competent reviews out there.

@@AttilaTheHun333333 Lots of us suffered thru Shaun Cole unboxing and first experiences when they started to be delivered, it was quite painful to watch (apart from seeing him getting hit by the wheel and draw some blood, I guess that was entertaining to watch)... But now I really need to wash that out of my head with a real review done in a cool relaxed voice tone. And I fully agree with you, there are zero reliable / competent / decent reviews on any of the 3 Podium models, lots of unboxings, lots of sim rigs pics, lots of gloating about how it made them faster (lol), but no signs of any serious sources of feedback (also not entirely sure that the very quick raise in Podium prices is unrelated to this lack of proper reviews)
@AttilaTheHun3333335 жыл бұрын
@@djnonnus I don't wanna hate on Shaun or anything but yeah, pretty disappointing that after two weeks he still don't have a review or first look video up. I trust Barry's unbiased opinion way more to be honest and obviously his reviews are second to none when it comes to insight look and details. He just gives the best impression for how a product might feel, quality and function wise...top notch. The price raise is very weird, I agree. But they cannot hide if the product turns out to be bad, so I really don't think it's that. I'm a loyal Fanatec customer since the Porsche GT days and I always keep in mind that they are a smaller company. I'm not the kind of guy who's upset about delays. I think Fanatec is a good company and they treat their customers right...at least that's my experience.

@@AttilaTheHun333333 Fully agree about Fanatec experience, I was recently (arrived this week) convinced into their CSL Elite ecosystem over the cheaper "it just works" T-GT (I know I know, for reference I only race in gt sport / ps4) just due to their impressive support and friendliness (the much higher apparent construction quality and upgrade path also had their weight), it also helps I am currently living in Germany so any shipping is lighting fast and cheap
@AttilaTheHun3333335 жыл бұрын
@@djnonnus I live in Austria. I'm lucky to have relatively fast shipping too. :) Hopefully we get some good reviews soon on the DD wheels. Enjoy "playing" and racing mate! I think it's exciting times we are in, looking at the possibilities in graphics and seeing the quality of sim racing gear nowadays for pretty affordable prices. I don't say direct drive wheels are cheap, but looking at their quality they look like they will last for five to ten years without an issue... that's pretty impressive if you look at the entertainment market as a whole.

I watched the whole video, you have a very nice voice to listen to.

I would not have guessed that we are the same height; knowing that brings new light to your previous rig reviews.

Next, Barry does a review of a bookshelf on which you can put your motor sports literature and memorabilia. I’ll still watch it...

Also how do you find the seat base cushioning? Is it too soft? Does it retain its form overtime? Im not sure weather a soft base is better that a firm base because a firm base will keep its shape better and not bottom out.

Hey brother, just curious if you have any recommendations on an under $200 racing seat for the sim-labs gt1 that also comes with seat mount or cheap enough to order a set with them. I always refresh youtube just for your videos. Only real reviews that matter! Haha

Have you seen the 60 dollar handbrake from aliexpress? It looks very promising; it's basically a modded racing handbrake with a hall-sensor and they claim it outputs 14-bits signals via usb.

Does the back twist slightly when you are reclined? Because the recline angle is only held by the hinge on the right hand side. Thanks

Do you find sticking with a chair with no adjustable lumbar is more comfortable? I have an older DxRacer without it, tried a new one with it had to send it back.
@theunexplainablecrumbs43872 жыл бұрын
I cannot for the life of me put the last two screws in for the backrest when I lift the hinge thing up the holes aren't high enough compared to the holes in the chair, it's so frustrating :(

What do you think after a year of use (if you still keep it) ? What's the pros and cons? I am interested in getting one but there's not many reviews. Cheers.

I know this is an old video but I'm currently looking at the Boulies Master as an option, how did it hold up in the end? I noticed you also did a GT Omega review but that particular model wasn't my style.

I want to order this but the website says that this chair is suitable for people 5'9 and up? But your saying it's ok for someone your height and I'm about the same height as you.
@julianmorgan59944 жыл бұрын
I bought this chair and only had it 1 day but it's creaking like crazy with little movement, I noticed the tilt mechanism is close to the other bolts underneath when I first built it, so I'm wonder if perhaps the metal is rubbing on the bolts or something, but I've put oil on all the bolts and it's made no difference. Would you have an ideas?

I'm in the process of researching chairs right now and I thought I'd settled on the Secret Labs Titan but this chair looks almost identical, other than not coming with the Soft Weave Fabric that the Titan is available in and it's on sale right now 11/21/19 for $238 US which is almost $200 US cheaper than the Titan. It says though that the chairs recommended for 220LBs which I'm an old fat bastage and about 40LBs heavier than that. Do you think it would be okay with my weight? Anyway so happy to see you doing a chair review as I watch and trust all things Racing Sim you do, So thank you for another quality review especially on a not so well known brand. By the way I'm still rocking my Fanatech 911 GT3 RS V2 with the original Club Sport V1 Pedals with Break Sensor. I'm having an issue with the PS2 Connection at the wheel dropping signal. I just order new PS2 Cable to try and solve the issue but I'm betting I'm going to have to break the wheel down and check that board/connection. Have you ran into this issue with the GT3 RS before and if you have any advice would be great as I really do like the wheel and don't want to drop $500 on the new Club Sport wheel base. I'm also not sure how to use my V1 Pedals if I do. Any advice you could give me would be great and thank you again for all your content over the years. Best reviews hands down...

Those elastic bands are useless when they are at the same height as the bottom metal frame. No matter what you'll end up feeling the frame over time. I wish these chair makers would actually learn to make a proper chair. Instead the quality is becoming worse and worse in my opinion.
