My wife and I never slept together before we were married. After we got married, we quickly discovered my wife lacked a sex drive almost completely. We were unable to consumate our marriage on our wedding night.....didn't happen on our honeymoon either. We finally managed it 3 weeks later, but it wasn't enjoyable as it caused her a lot of pain for a very long time. If we had tried having sex before marriage, I would have probably taken it as us being incompatible and I would have missed out on the most loving, kind and God honoring woman I'd ever met. Carol Ann Pinkerton The point of waiting until marriage is it being a byproduct of your walk with God and a boundary that isn’t supposed to be limiting but protecting. I know people whose worst heartbreaks were always with people they crossed that boundary with and gave a piece of them away. A lot of culture glorifies sex to the extreme that porn sites are the most populated web avenue. The issue with that is you’re trying to fill a gaping hole with something that was never meant to fill it up. Also, if you don’t believe in Jesus, and are uncomfortable with them setting a boundary that doesn’t affect you, it is not on you to attack someone else’s values. It’s ones thing to have genuine questions, but another to be disrespectful.

I’ve messed up in previous relationships but my fiancé and I are waiting in OUR relationship to experience those things in marriage. @@deonwoode-amissah8806 I think the best way to do this is to be able to take a step back and check in with yourself, God, and trusted friends. You need to be able to ask yourself “is this a good person for me? Are there any red flags? Is there anything I am worried about, or that I’m overlooking?” It’s also really important to take these questions to God and also to trusted people who know you and ideally know the person you’re dating. That way- even with all the emotion - you are able to make an objective decision about this person and use wisdom, not just feelings. Hope this helps! X

@@TheLike_Button I wish this was true for most marriages but it is often heard how christian women start seeing sex as a chore, a burden, something to use as a weapon or to manipulate the husband, etc. All kind of excuses to not have sex are used such as the headache, being too tired, and so on. I have read in different sources how married women complain that the husband is not romantic while men complain the wife doesn’t want sex since they got married, never takes initiative, shows no interest to experiment and get wild, doesn’t change positions, finds oral stimulation (give and receive) disgusting, is too shy, is embarrassed to be seen naked, etc. This worries me about getting married. Wouldn’t want to turn into the typical married christian woman who sees sex like that. It confuses me because it is proven how pretty much everybody masturbates even though none can ever dare themselves to be honest enough to admit it. So that shows we have sexual needs as human beings. Why do our sexual needs die once we get married? 😕

We rarely hold hands, he only hugged me one time during my father’s funeral, and never kissed. We shared every single bit of our dirty past to out youth pastors, and they helped us setting boundaries that we still keep even until now. Even more important than that, is for each of us to have a personal relationship with Jesus. There are times when we had to be remind each other about our commitment since one of us was beginning to get touchy (it really does correlate to our relationship with God though) If we both feel secure in God, it's so easy to enjoy our moments together through communication alone. But when we started to missed our quiet times or prayers, this is when the need to get physical kicks in - I really think it's because we try to fill the void of the love of God that's so fulfilling with anything other than. i hope this helps you somehow, it's not impossible!

Carol Ann Pinkerton Christianity to me is SO much more than just being drawn to or following certain religious beliefs or rules. Following rules and avoiding temptation itself won’t earn me a place in heaven. It’s about having a personal, saving, grace filled relationship with Jesus. You say temptation is simply a religious idea, yet I can guarantee you have felt the feeling of temptation throughout your life. Temptation to lie, temptation to steal, temptation to be unkind etc. Everyone knows what right and wrong is yet we still fail to do the right, why, because we are tempted and sometimes give in to that temptation. The fact you say temptation is a religious idea is false in that sense, it isn’t a mere idea it’s the basis to why all of us sin on the daily. Tell me if there is no God, why do you have a conscience? Why when you do wrong do you feel a sense of shame or guilt? Who when this world was created said murdering was wrong, who said stealing was wrong, who said cheating was wrong? GOD DID. Temptation and all the wrong that comes with it isn’t an idea that was simply created out of nowhere by a few religious people. Temptation is real and so is the God that placed consciences in our hearts and helps overcome temptation :)

Thanks so much for this video guys! I started dating a girl just over 2 months ago, and we were both really strong in our faith. But somehow over the last 2 months we tended more and more to put our focus on each other and less on God. 2 days ago, we ended up breaking our boundaries quite badly - we didn’t go all the way, but definitely knew we’d messed up badly. We repented and realised we had begun idolising each other and since then (2 days ago) we’ve felt God telling us to come back to our first love [for God]. And I spent time with God like I haven’t done in more than a year, and I saw how far I’d fallen away from my first love. From this perspective, I have recommitted to new boundaries with my girlfriend, and we want to pursue God first, and pursue marriage together, as God sanctifies us. yes truly giving it to God then setting up ways to keep yourselves from falling into sin is key. like if you know kissing is your weakness and would lead to more, then you can set that boundary of no kissing. basically avoiding anything that will LEAD to something you may regret. not even giving temptation the chance by not letting yourself get anywhere close to the line, which will take time to figure out how to do. also, asking some people you trust to check in with you and your relationship and ask the hard or uncomfortable questions like "have you guys been setting up boundaries," "have you fallen into sin..." I relate where youre coming from and yes its hard in our own strength but if we really give it to God and do whatever is helpful, change is possible through the Holy Spirit. Honestly...I feel like young Christians talk about sex too much. My entire life on modern churches I had SO MANY youth group discussions on the topic of purity to the point that my mind was always on sex in some form or another. It was hammered into my head that sex was THE sin to avoid, and so I became obsessed with it. To the point that I set myself up for failure. This is obviously just my experience but I see so many people who are the products of "purity culture" who are pregnant at 17 or have had 10 partners. I completely agree with you! I think it is a very important topic that needs to be talked about, but, especially with young people, I think it is focused on way to much. I believe, that teaching young people how to have a relationship with God is so much more important than teaching them all of the “rights and wrongs”. Because out of that relationship, God guides you in his will for you. So, I think it’s good to talk and listen to others on this topic, but more importantly trust what God tells you, study and research his word, and seek God every step of the way.

Me and my gf have a rule of not being in each other’s rooms alone and not being in a bed together. We do watch movies together and cuddle a little bit but with the thought and respect of each other’s boundaries always there. We do kiss but not for long periods and definitely don’t make out.

When I prepared for marriage at 27 years old, I rented a house I lived in alone for 3 weeks. My wife and I decided not to live together before marriage. As someone who is married and a believer, this reminds me a lot of our dating experience. It is such a PROCESS making boundaries and they change often. It is good that you are constantly re-evaluating and praying through them. You guys seem to have a really good handle on things so I pray that you will continue to glorify HIM in your relationship and that will overflow into your marriage. The way y’all admit your mess ups is not seen very often but helps me immensely because I’ve beat myself up about things I’ve done when everyone on the internet seems to be like ah it wasn’t too hard to stay pure and I’m over here with my boyfriend having to refine our boundaries in order to protect ourselves and this video gave me comfort knowing it’s a process and it’s okay to take a step back and refine boundaries. I relate to this so much! I love that someone who is dating/engaged can watch this and get advice for boundaries. My husband and I (married 2 years now!) did not have sex until our wedding night. I was a virgin, he was not. We dated for a year and we had to edit our boundaries QUITE a few times, definitely pushed the boundaries and needed to rethink why it was important to save sex for marriage. I think it helped my husband that I was resolute and we talked openly about it. I wouldn’t change our journey and I’m definitely glad that we waited as it really started our marriage on the right path.

Yes yes yes I need this. The closer to marriage my boyfriend and I get, the harder it gets. We recently opened up to my parents a little bit about our struggles and that helped immensely. I let my emotions get the best of me and God really convicted me. About 3 months later, I talked to him and told him what the Lord was doing in my heart.
