Matt The Cat I’m in CA and I agree, although I know CA is particularly immodest lol. As a woman who would dress very immodestly when I was a teenager and college student, I always felt self conscious dressing modestly around women who wore outfits that flaunted their bodies, bc they got a lot of attention and praise for it. So I think even the women that want to be modest feel pressured not to, since even (some) Christian men will react more positively to the woman wearing less. Even though I dress modestly now I still feel a bit jealous at times. I know it’s not right to feel that way though!

I’m a very modest person. My mom literally has to convince me to wear a bathing suit to go swimming. But I know I am not modest because of my values, I am modest because I am self conscious about my body. I am realizing I need to stop working out so that “one day I can be pretty enough to wear that dress” but instead to work out to honour the body that Jesus gave for me

@@BreaktheKarmicWheel Yeah, modesty is a good thing, but it is not good to hide your body completely just because you think it's ugly. This is not good!! You should be comfortable and LOVE your body... And then being modest, because you want to stress your face that reveals the light of God.

Biblically, the Holy Spirit convicts people, not people convicting others. Christ’s conviction leads to true change. As christians, our call is to spread the good news, love of Jesus, not guilt/condemn people and encourage others towards Christ. Sooooo let’s not play the act of the Holy Spirit. The most we can do is love like Christ✌🏽

Tamar but sometimes a person might not be convicted because he/she is desensitized , so you must be deliberate when making choices rather than going by “being convicted”. Because we see so many Christians becoming more secular because of social media & not being convicted because they are used to it. including me!

I love CS Lewis’ thoughts on modesty. He says Chastity is the moral virtue and modesty is a social standard. I’ve had such conflicting opinions given to me on outfits I have worn and I’ve always struggled with this issue (as other people around me have different opinions). And Lewis made me understand it in a different light. A Victorian woman in full dress could be considered unchaste (sexual immoral) and a woman in the pacific islands wearing little could be considered very chaste. Don’t get me wrong, I believe we should reflect God in how we dress, like everything else. But I don’t believe it’s that clear cut. Women’s bodies have been overly sexualised, within the west especially. Focus on God and turn from sin. Sin being here unchastity.

@@kayseacamp Most sinful acts (transgressions), if not all, start as heart issues (iniquities). But one thing GOD has revealed to me is if we have the Fear of the LORD, then a lot of people will instantly stop wearing a lot of clothes seen as normal or a grey area. There's a reason why people, including Christians who haven't gotten a deeper Revelation of GOD yet, wear more revealing clothes outside a service or church gathering, but not during. Truly think to yourself, would GOD approve of my clothing, even if it's just a 'little' peak of my boobs when I bend? GOD said we must lead no one to sin, and when we really start to love everyone as siblings, this Godly Compassion (from The HOLY SPIRIT) for not seeing them waver, get tempted, or fall to sin will really transform our minds. We will start to cover up more, even if it is to the beach because we care for not just people's eyes or opinions, but deeply for their Salvation and souls. Luke 17: 1-4 And HE said to HIS disciples, "Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin. Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying 'I repent', you must forgive him."

What God considers nakedness is clearly spelled out in the Bible: Exodus 28:42 - And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach... so basically if you are showing anything from waist to above the knee you are naked in God’s eyes, so no, it’s not a personal conviction, it’s a law that God expects us to keep, and He is gracious and if we are seeking him He will teach us all these things

As a saved women I should dress modestly and honor my body as a temple of God. As a man I should not look at a woman in lust. Sometimes we want our bread buttered on both sides.. when we say yes to Jesus, we HAVE to start choosing - the sooner the better.

@Gerna Van Rooyen Very well said. As Christians, we have to respect the beauty of our body that God created by covering them up. And God had to ordain marriage to help us deal with our sexual sin. For as long as we are in the view of the public, we cover up our naked body to respect God’s creation. Our nakedness is sacred and it should only be shared with our spouse in a marriage. And having been in the covenant of marriage, it is our duty to exercise discipline and not look at others in lust. The sacred covenant of marriage was created for husband and wife so that they have someone to look at whenever there is that sexual desire in them. God has designed it to be between husband and wife and not with a third party in between.

@@kennethfok *It always seemed odd to me how you could be "respecting" God's creation by hiding it when God created His world to be openly and proudly displayed. That's why He had Adam and Eve shameless about their nudity in the garden. We actually cover ourselves because we're ashamed of His creation and think we're abominable when it's actually the opposite. Furthermore, it seems to me that you have the same mentality as every other Christian being that nudity is sexual when it actually has nothing to do with sexuality. It's only our ignorance that makes it sexual. Showing your body is not a sin, it's a virtue, if you think something is beautiful, you don't hide it, you flaunt it.*

God has done the same thing with me I've become more modest as I continued to get closer to Him and did more research on modesty. I went to extremes with it. It became an idol at one point, I was wearing a head covering for a period of time. I came to realize that the way we dress should be different enough for people to notice but not so different that we isolate ourselves. When choosing clothes now I ask myself these questions: Is it healthy? (can I breath and move around in this comfortably (this includes shoes) Does it fit properly? (will I have to fidget or adjust anything) Can I bend over? (without exposing chest or bum) Do I feel pretty/confident?

As a Christian their should be growth. This includes your wardrobe and how one presents yourself. Ask yourself the question am I glorifying Jesus Christ with this outfit, or am I looking for glory for myself. Our culture worships women and we don’t need to encourage that behavior. God wants us to be holy and He won’t leave us alone in our spiritual growth. If their is no progress in the things of godliness, it’s best to examine your heart and see if you are truly in the faith. We have to read in context cause it’s also about men too. During that time in the bible , Paul was talking about men and women who show off their status at church. When we are going to church we shouldn’t be bringing attention to how we are dressed and our appearance. It’s a time to worship God not prom or a banquet. then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers. The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there. The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush. And the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed. Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. Genesis 2:7-3:7

That's the sad thing about this faith, people are turning away from God because men have penciled their agenda in and said, "This is what God wants". So it's acceptable for men to go around topless, but not women? And if a man degrades a woman, it's her fault but not his? I don't think that sounds like Jesus. I get sick of people co-opting Christianity and pushing a narrative that exists to benefit them.

I agree. It's not all about the women to keep men from sin - it should be a shared respect for one another. I do feel like it's important that you mentioned even the most modest dress can still cause a man to sin - and that is completely on him to work on that. The thing that immediately came to mind is how the world can often shame women for acts of sexual violence because of what they did or did not wear. It can even be like what kind of underwear they wore that no one could see. It's very toxic and damaging to women to have this mentality - and as the church body I think we should be conscious of that too.

I think theres nothing wrong with confronting immodesty, IF done in the right way...as in, "i love you friend and maybe you havent thought of this, but modesty is important! For Gods honor, for us to be seen as the godly women we are, and to help our Christian brothers". Doing it in a snipey, hateful way accomplishes nothing. We dont know exactly where each person is coming from, but we can help point them in the right direction. And in the end, its the Holy Spirits job to convict🙌🏻 I think asking ourselves what our motivation is in wearing an outfit, posting in a certain way , is very revealing (pardon the pun lol)- is your motivation, to please God and draw attention to Him, or cause people to focus on and lust after our body, envy you, flaunt what you have, etc?

Wow! You really explained this so well! I am also Christian, and I can say that I became more modest soon after I began my walk with Jesus. It never really occurred at first that being "revealing" wasn't the way I should go about my life. I would feel a tug to not wear something based on how it looked on me, but never realized the tug was actually from God telling me that trying to be "sexy/hot" for someone to admire me wasn't what I should focus on in my life. I used to wear short shorts, but eventually I learned that not only do they make me feel uncomfortable not just in church but around my family and in school, BUT it made me think differently about who I was. I would think of myself as an object or something of value, when in reality God gives us our value. Thanks for sharing your honest story! this is so important to hear! God bless, and I hope you continue to discover more on your walk with Jesus. :)

I agree with you, everyone must be held accountable for their actions, this is not a blame game. I would like to add two things. One: that women have been especially targeted by the Christian community to be modest, because women's bodies have been by far sexualized the most. Men's apparel trends have remained the same over thousands of years: loose pants and a top. Men have always basically been modest because that's what our culture portrays and it instead uses women as objects with porn and everything. Two: we as Christians are called to call out sin out of a LOVING heart, so when you said that "the problem is not the sin", I have to disagree because we must guide these lost souls to holiness (and to jesus of course too) and if they dont listen, that's on them. It's important to talk about sin. Hate the sin, not the sinner.
@Happytown7523

@Lydia Tifuh I agree and disagree. I dont see what so wrong with saying that we must talk and think about sin 🤷‍♀️ so many of these modern churches only want to make people feel good, sing songs, hold hands, and uplift, which is definitely great, but the church is specifically called to have authority and uphold a certain level of standard in order to prevent its members from sinning. I dont think having authority is wrong, and one of the main ways that we can learn to submit to God and honor his glory is by recognizing where we have gone wrong, which would require addressing our weaknesses that causes us to sin

It's not all society's fault that women's bodies are sexualised. God created the female body to be very appealing to men and it should be revealed in a covenant of marriage. Men finding females bodies attractive is in their nature, so it's not so much society that made our bodies very sexual - they are sexually enticing by nature. I do agree with most of what you said, and women have a part to play in helping men not to sin with their eyes..and thoughts.

I agree fully. In my early 20's I started modeling locally and thought being a model was my identity and all the positive attention I got was uplifting. Almost every photographer offered my more money to shoot nudes and I kindly declined each time. After a couple years when I noticed my photos weren't getting as much attention and other models were becoming more popular, I became more desperate for that attention and acceptance I had before and started showing more skin and getting creative with my look. Thank God I never went full nude, but I came very close. I ended up chopping off all my long brown hair, bleaching it blonde, wearing more makeup and eventually shaving my head because my hair was so damaged. It was an insecure downward spiral. Quitting modeling was the best thing I ever did and getting back to being natural and the way God made me. I'm more confident and closer to God than I have ever been and I thank the Lord for guiding out of a terrible time that could have gotten worse.

Yes college is hard in that aspect... just keep thinking about how awesome it is that we have the honor of being God’s child and how cool it is that we get to please Him by being different from the world. Take pride in your modesty knowing it’s pleasing God. It will take the pressure off looking the part of a “hot college girl”. Make pleasing Him your number one priority and everything becomes so silly and unimportant. Focus on spreading the gospel and making that your mission in life. 😀

You’re so right that we need to love people and encourage them to draw close to God rather than tell them to stop sinning. I really struggle with not getting angry at people who dress immodestly because I try to dress modestly and when other girls are showing everything I feel like I’m comparing myself to them and it’s causing temptation for the men in my life which really upsets me! I often feel like attention is being taken away from me and put on them because they’re showing more and trying to get attention. I also feel like when I get married and my husband sees me he will have already seen so many girls practically in their underwear and I’ll be compared to all of them. This is wrong thinking and I know I can’t hold non believers accountable for the convictions I have. If they don’t have Jesus in their life how can I blame them for seeking attention from others. I wish I could simply love them and not get upset at their choices, it’s so hard! I need grace for not having grace.

Theres a time for everything. Dont go too much to the left or to the right. The bible also says to rebuke people. As King David was when Nathan rebuked him for the sin he had committed. "Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.” I too have felt judged when confronted about things i am working through. Ive realized that those feelings of being judged and letting people down are, frankly, a personal problem. It does not have much to do with them as you may or may not know their true intentions. If your feelings of being judged and singled out are above you positioning your heart to christ and being the person he wants you to be then you also have a problem. Also, you mentioned how what you are wearing may be triggering to one person and not another. this also applies to how people rebuke. what you thought was mean or rude may have been thought of as loving from the person who wrote it. As you wisely mentioned theres a responsibility on both sides for lust and modesty. There is also a responsibility on both sides when we rebuke. As people can go overboard and be damning and unnecessarily nasty in their rebukes, people can also be weak or prideful and egotistical when receiving them. We are given a great example of this with King David. A man after Gods own heart and we see how he takes a rebuke that could have ruined him. And Nathan a prophet who obeyed God and rebuked the king in front of everyone which took a lot of courage as it may have gotten him killed were the king anyone else. Just some things to keep in mind. Ultimately I agree with your conclusion how focusing on christ(being after Gods own heart) is the way to go but to get there may require a rebuke. maybe not. Only God knows. God your will be done.

"people telling me to not sin doesn't make not sin. me becoming more like Jesus makes me not sin" i 100% feel the same way about the topic of modesty... its often approached so wrong and honestly, in weird way. like "dont cause your brothers to stumble" just makes guys look like animals who can't control themselves. the "bad examples" of modesty that people point fingers at are usually people who arent Christians or like you were just starting your walk. It is so unhelpful and honestly, hurtful a lot fo the time. my experience was the same as yours -- i wore scandy stuff for a while and posted pictures after i became a Christian, but God just changed all that by himself and i didn't even really notice it. modesty is also such a fluid topic. i remember being in church growing up and people demonizing leggings... now i think most people would consider them modest. i would say just follow the Holy Spirit and wear stuff that's comfortable to you lol anyway thank you for posting! just found your channel and your honesty is refreshing

I agree with everything you said Kian. I grew up in a strong Christian home with typical Nigerian parents as such modesty in terms of dressing was my upbringing and it has stayed with me. I honestly feel more comfortable while covered. And beyond this, how I dress is my worship to God. I used to judge people who were not as modest especially Christians. This was until I came across this scripture below and my perspective has changed since. "Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do. And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with-even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department. Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently." Romans 14:1 MSG Now as a modest fashion blogger, I hope to inspire people to be more modest and know that it's possible to look stylish even while covered up. No judgment, no condemnation, just using the way I dress and my platform for God's glory. Thank you for being real with us. May God give you more grace as you continue on this journey.

You are a lovely girl. It's so nice to hear your journey to modesty. I've been a Christian since very early childhood. I'm 36, a new mom, and I'm just now starting my modesty journey. The Lord is speaking to my heart and I'm hearing Him. It's a relief to watch this video and not feel alone. Thank you.

I completely understand and love what you are saying. I struggled with modesty for a long time, not only is modesty about how revealing you dress it's about the attention you want from your apparel or outward appearance. I was definitely convicted about my modesty while listening to gabe the street preacher, I focus on scripture once I saw what he was saying is true I was even closer to God. There's definitely a difference between discernment and judgement, as brothers and sister in Christ we must correct each other. Matthew 7:1-5 describes taking the plank out of your eye to help your brothers and sister. Try not to get too offended when people say things, God works in mysterious ways. I always check my Bible for rebuking people..God bless you

Thank you so much for this video❤️. Really liked your take on conviction through the Holy Spirit; not by man, especially on the topic of modesty. I'm gonna be honest and say that I have been judgemental in the past, but God has been and continues to be working in me, so that I become less legalistic about these things. XOXO

I am a Christian as well and I believe that God gives wisdom to all, please understand that modesty to one can be different from another. Modesty isn't limited to the way one clothes herself and it is never their fault if man feels lust while looking at these women. Why can't they pray to have more respect for women and not look at women based on their physical appearance?

Your video just showed while I was looking at another one. I'm not sure why I clicked but I'm glad I did! I'm a 48 yr old woman who has battled with being modest but as you went through wanting attention as well. Growing up my grandmother would always tell me to leave something to the imagination, cover up don't show your body like that rather to value it. You are such an incredible role model for both younger and older women and you have explained things really well! I can definitely see the Lord working in you.

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained. Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. I’m a size 5/6 and I use to be a 3 for a very long time. And I’ve always HATED wearing a swim suit. I hate it so much. Even till this day. I hate it!!!! I love the beach. But I dread going to places and events that includes water :( and I also hate that people are saying “with your size you shouldn’t be bothered” and it makes me so angry! Like why does that matter? How does that have anything to do with me not wanting to be exposed.

VERSE touches on this>>>> Galatians (1:10): "Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant." That was Paul speaking. Just know that you are a beautiful woman and I am not just saying this because of the topic of this video but your face alone is Beautiful and a gift sent from up above. Social media can really brainwash individuals and many feels the need to change themselves to please others who are trying to please others. God made you special and for that reason those who are in the dark are incapable of seeing the light because they refuse to let God guide them to the light. We are no better than those who are lost but by the grace of God.. We seek him and not the approval from those of this world. I always pray and ask God for guidance because I fall short of many things but then he reminds me... it's okay to be different and stand out like I did.

Hi Kian! Thank you for this video. I just wanted to share this, and I would be very grateful if anyone would like to pray for me regarding this. So I grew up in a Christian household, and I’ll never stop wanting to grow my relationship with Christ and become more like him. The thing is i did the same thing you did as well, posted bikini pictures. I didn’t think about it as to bad at first, but after a while I realized that Christians started to unfollow me on Instagram. And recently I’ve been struggling, and I mean really been struggling with so much shame and bitterness about these photos. And I wish I’d known better. I feel like my mind is being completely attacked with shame. Shame because these brothers in Christ felt that they couldn’t follow me anymore, shame that these pictures were on my page for basically everyone to see, and just this constant pressure to not post anything that would seem not very Christian, I guess you could say. I just wish that I can look forward instead of looking back on something that I can’t control. I know I’m forgiven and I haven’t posted anything similar since.. but I don’t know it’s really hard. I would be grateful if you could just pray with me for peace of mind. God bless you everyone ❤️
