After several breakups before I knew Christ and then a few failed relationships once I did, I realized that there are sometimes dysfunctional things that need to be addressed in our own lives before courting/being courted. Allowing God to work through me and not focus or worry about women has been a gamechanger. Sometimes you need to let go of what you want, and let God show you what you truly need (Him).

I remember when I was 30 this older guy told me he said man you need to 86 women right now focus with God get your life together I fought against what he was saying but I realize I spent years trying to make women feel happy a lot of money and there's nothing wrong with that but I think we spent so much time chasing instead of really just getting healed getting our emotional health together you're not financial help together

Hey Kathryn, I really understand your struggle. We have exactly the same timeline, ended relationship in 2017, met Christ in 2020 when I was suicidal. From my experience sister, just wait on God. He has someone perfect planned for you!! I got impatient and found someone before my time and I don't recommend that. You need someone who is in Christ as much as you are!

The only one that has always been hard for me is to be connected to a good community. Where I live there are not godly christian communites that provide that. Double down on prayer, meditation in the scriptures, worshiping the Lord in your every day life, fasting as the Lord directs, practicing the presence of Jesus, develop an attitude of gratitude, practice the lost art of forgiveness...yes and please forgive yourself, share everything with Jesus in prayer & always listen to God's response, most importantly develop your spiritual senses by becoming a good listener (discernment), to the Lord's guidance in all the affairs of life!

I grew up in a baptist church that was ptetty toxic and all the books, movies, and people around me were constantly shoving down our throats tbat we were not " accomplished" in life or " serving God" if we werent married right away and that matriage is always the end goal. This and some other things pushed me unto the path of going to all different guys trying to find someone to make me feel worthy and feel like i was making people proud. I fed myself the belief that you can make yourself love someone even if they are toxic and cheating etc. After my last failed relationship it was so bad i broke down, and started realizing i was seeking a peace and worth i could only find in God. The past year i have begun trying to find more about myself and how to heal trauma and become closer to God. Singleness has helped me in so many ways to quit shoving my problems down and try to find comfort in people. I understand marriage is a beautiful thing in Christ, but i am loving this time i have spent by myself.
