Bourbon Battle Russell's 13 Edition...Which Batch Is The Best

I visited the Wild Turkey distillery in October of 2021 and the tenured staff told me there was roughly 100 barrels of 13 year and 30 barrels of 18 year juice in batch 1. Hence why I think this is delicious. I may have the numbers of barrels off but it was nearly 20-25% 18 year juice. Again, this is what WT told me after telling them how much I enjoyed it. I trust them ;) Cheers all.

How do you determine what batch you have. Where do you look on the bottle?

It is hard to tell but towards the bottle of the bottle you can see a laser code and that will tell which Batch it is.

Last year I won a raffle and basically it a Russell’s 13 or a Coy Hill. My first reaction was the Russell’s 13. 3 minutes later I called back and came home with the Coy Hill? Did I ******** up?

Its a laser code on the bottle, not on the paper label. Its very faint but itll be there

What’s the full laser code on the LL/JL? I’ve got a LL/JL16 I really enjoy, possibly better than Batch 1. Heard there are two run dates of JL, LL/JL15 being the other.

I am not sure on the full laser code(sorry not at home at the moment). But I think regardless of the full laser code I think the batch should be the same regardless of what the full laser code would say.

@@bourbonkingdom from what I’ve read there were two different bottling dates which used different blends of barrels for the JL release. Another channel picked JL as their favorite in this same blind. Which is why I’m curious what your JL is since the feedback seems completely opposite. I’ve got an extra JL16 & a JL15 as well so want to know since I plan to trade one.

The LL-2 is sweet...lots of fruit.. Yummy.... The life of a 64+ dude from Kansas in Cambodia... Not a lot of bourbons...lots of single malts....even more single ladies....

It is very light laser etching on bottom located on the back of the bottle. It is very faint.

LL/JL gives me a plasticine note on the nose and is boring on the palate with some of that after 8 mints on the finish. Sadly I do not care for this bottling. Kind of a let down.

I’m confused, you said your number 2 is the Batch 2 KE, but when you put the batch on screen it reads Batch 3 LL/KE. Which is the 2022 release? Were there 2 releases in 2021?

2022 had two. When we recorded we weren’t sure what they were calling it

A good friend of mine was able to score 3 bottles of RR13 for $78 each at Sam’s Club. I traded for one his bottles. It’s Batch 2 and is exceptional. Probably the best bourbon that I have experienced thus far. The laser code is LL/JL160722. I believe this batch has to be at least equal to or better than Batch 1.
