4 roses has been doing it RIGHT for years, no flavored or finished crap. Only the best bourbon for the money and you can find it on the shelf almost anywhere, single barrel-barrel proof stuff is 👍👍😋🔥

It just illustrates how everyone has different preferences. I tried Four Roses but have no affinity for it. I don't care for JD either. Give me a Knob Creek or Dickel or WT 101 or Buffalo Trace. I even like cheap Evan Williams 100 better than Four Roses.

DIY whiskey project. Do your own "finishing", using various woods like oak, sugar maple, apple, cherry and others. The easy source are wood chunks bought at BBQ supply stores but I have also used woods from my own trees, each gives a unique layer of flavors. Start by making small staves, about 3" long and 1/4 inch square. Treat them at 350 F for about 20 minutes, this brings out certain natural flavors. You can use them that way, or I often use a butane flame to give each a deep char. About one ounce per bottle for four weeks works out well. Mesquite is strong, use it sparingly. Pecan is very tannic, I don't use it. And a big CAUTION, don't use any poisonous woods, the internet is a good source for that information. Happy "finishing", I've been doing it for several years, each batch is one of a kind. My base bourbon is Evan Williams 100 proof BiB.

@@PhilAwrye No, I don't, but it is pretty straightforward. After you choose your woods and amounts, charred or uncharred, you put then into an empty, clean bottle. You add the whiskey and during the 4-week period shake it occasionally. Then filter it into another clean bottle and enjoy. I find that charring oak and sugar maple give it nice aromas and flavors.

As with all bottles and palates things differ. I’ve seen a few other channels that were somewhat disappointed with this bottle. Again different views from others is what it’s all about. Just not a bottle I’ll see as it’s a distillery only release and I think that will be a circus and a parking nightmare. Glad you enjoyed it though. Enjoy!!🥃🥃🥃

@B-fq7ff Awesome! Let us know when you have it finished. I will read it. I'm in the final edits of my own urban, vampire romantasy - I've been working on for four years. I never realized how difficult it was to write a novel. So glad I've done it, though. I will say one of my best writing sessions was doing a shot of whiskey followed by a half a cup of coffee. I did that for like six hours one night and made great progress. Artful progress. I'm not saying that's healthy, but it worked. Lol
