I just blinded C921 and C922 and it was so close. C922 by a nose. But the C921 is an underrated bottle.

A123 is so good! 💯 it wraps your palette in caramel and butter with that proof that doesn’t bite but hits you right in the head. Thanks for the review Fred!

Thanks for the background on Larceny…it is one of my fav daily sippers..along with Buff Trace ,1792, WT 101,and OF100. Hard to find the barrel proofs here in Texas! Be well and sip on!

I had not bought any of the Larceny BP’s until C922 and A123. From all the reviews that I have seen, I did not miss anything prior! I like all the Elijah Craig BP’s. 🥃

Late December I walked into my local grocery and I saw a single Larceny A123 high up on the "special" whiskey shelf and it was mine! Opened it immediately and fell in love. Went back a couple days later and there was another bottle and I still have the second Larceny A123 bunkered with it's brother EC A123 lol! My take was a rather simple palate definitely brown sugar and butter or caramel and also a cherry and leather note. In some strange way the Larceny A123 reminded me of a Jack Daniel's SBBP 129.8 proof that I really enjoyed a couple years ago and also have a spare bottle stashed away.

Love that people still largely sleep on these bottles. Makes it easy(in my area) to try them and then to back up the ones I really like. Sounds like A123 is a nice continuation from the C922.

Really hard to find ANY barrel proofs in my area, let alone ones that are well known. Can get shelf Larceny all day, but not these.

To add to the palate notes, i get a summer/bright red fruit cola, and nutmeg in addition to your notes, and the cocoa note you get from the chocolate pudding in a chocolate pie. (Probably the slight drying oak influence with the chocolate)

Glad they’re FINALLY figuring the barrel proof thing out!! I totally wasted my money on A, B and C the first AND second year. Six bottles that were absolutely spiky, fractured, rough edged, stingy, drying and unnecessary hot as all hell (yes, I drink Stagg Jr, ECBP, JDSBBP, Yellowstone BP, Balcones BP etc VERY regularly and have NO issue with neat pours of 135+ proof….but these 6 bottles were like flaming turpentine with equally poor noses and flavor. Haven’t been back to Larceny BP since…..may try another bottle with this one…..OR just pick up another ECBP or JDSBBBP!

I feel like the C922 was the first one that really got top marks. Before that, they seemed a bit hit or miss. I have the A123, and hopefully they have settled on a taste moving forward.

Hey Fred, have you ever tried using an aerator with bourbon? Could it open up a bourbon like it can a wine? I don't know why, but it came to mind while watching you try to find more notes during this review. I'm going to do my own experimentation but wondered if you might have tried it before. Great content as usual. I'm glad we have you to do this difficult work for America 😂
