Don Williams is the most under appreciated OG. He's not flashy or pretentious, but his music is just enjoyable

Don Williams got his start in Pop/Folk music as a member of the Pozo Second singers...quite the upgrade to the country superstar he became and the icon he will continue to be...

OMG! You made it to Don Williams! One of the best voices ever! On a particularly terrible contract job I worked I started every day with Don Williams and Lord I Hope This Day Is Good. He surely made a difference for me! R.I.P. Don. ♥️

OG for sure! Just listen to " Good ole boys like me " and you'll understand Don Williams, I think. He also writes this stuff so keep enjoying this rabbit hole! I used to enjoy Canadian Whiskey when I over indulged. Amelas

My top 5 that I will take over every other singer in history: Merl Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Sr, George Jones, and Don Williams.

Don williams had one of the smoothest voice to ever grace country music. No flashy lights and costumes, no smoke or fire, no yelling and screaming trying to hit a note. Just good music and amazing vocals

Keith, during one of the Keith Urban reaction’s, you asked who was his inspiration. Here you go. Don is his main inspiration. Don is an OG, master songwriter.

I *think* I can kind of hear that. Will have to go re-listen to some of the Keith Urban songs we've done to see if I'm really hearing that influence. - Keith

YES! Don Williams is one of the best! He isn't flashy or in your face. He's laid back, someone you could just sit back and chat with. I saw him a year or 2 before he went Home and he sounded just as good then as years ago. He doesn't have a bad song. I don't know if he would have ever went on the Lawrence Welk show. Four or 5 awesome songs in a row!!!! I love it! I saw you posted a new video while I was on first break at work and I had to wait ALL DAY LONG to watch! Sheesh!

You wanted country Keith. These songs were from a different time period that had values. Our world has changed and notice the evening or daily news. You can Sing Me Home Again, and I'll sleep better hoping today was a bad dream. I agree with you on George Thurgood, it was young people's driving music like Duane Eddy & Chuck Berry was when I was a kid in the early 60's. It just didn't grab you like Johnny B. Goode. Peace! Don Williams started in a band, the Pozo-Seco, until they broke up. He then went out on his on. The song , Amanda. that Chris Stapelton and his wife sang that you loved so much was a Don Williams sang. He had a long successful career in country music.

George Thurgood & the Destroyer's did a cover of " Move it on Over ", written and sung by Hank Williams in 1947. It was Hanks first #1 hit before there was rock music. That may explain why Hank is in the Rock 'in' Roll Hall of Fame and several other Hall of Fame's. George made a few changes to the song but you'll for sure recognize it. Before George and company did their version Bill Haley & His Comets did theirs, again with subtle changes. It was Hanks first number one hit out of 20 Number ones. Hank died January 1, 1053. That would qualify Hank as the first Super Star Imo. Those bribes could be those three songs for some Canadian bottles. Hank is the OG of country music in my opinion. He does have some good company. Don Williams, Kristofferson, Waylon, Willie & Johnny + many others. Let me know about the Canadian products so as to avoid the Christmas rush BCR. Keep up the good work saving these classics! You might want to send me a muzzle thru Santa. :) Amelas

Some songs to consider because you loved her vocals Pam Tillis-Spilled Perfume, for instruments Sawyer Brown-Step That Step, for a good time Mel McDaniel-Stand Up and for just an under appreciated artist Mark Chestnut-Almost Goodbye. Happy Holidays guys.

I would suggest some of Don Williams songs on a different subject matter. "Good Ol' Boys Like Me" "I Believe In You" "Miracles" Don Williams was more country than Lawrence Welk, but he was very mellow.

Would love to see you react to "I'm No Stranger to the Rain" by Keith Whitley. I think y'all would really like him. A few more of his are "It Ain't Nothing" and "When You Say Nothing At All". But I think you would appreciate "I'm No Stranger to the Rain". Just a note: Vince Gill references this song in "Go Rest High on that Mountain".

Also I’ve just ordered a bottle to V&T for you to collect. Maybe not an OG but I’d say one of the greatest neo-traditionalists to break out in the 80’s.

I associate Don Williams with the OGs but I'm not sure I've ever stopped and listened to him. Maybe it's because the message is similar, but this really reminded me of George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her Today."

Don Williams was one of the best. His last 2 albums before passing in 2017 were every bit as good as his top hits from the 70’s & 80’s. I think you should check out his song Infinity. It is one of his best but wasn’t a hit.
