My husband is the dad he didn't have to be. I had a 5 yr. daughter and a 2 month old son when Martin and I started talking. After we got married, he adopted both of them . Then we had another son who is now a Sgt. In the Marines. But he never treated and of our children different. He is my hero. We are going to celebrate 25 yrs of marriage on August 2nd.

I can completely relate to these lyrics! I lost the man I called dad back in 2007. I have to admit that I gave this man hell throughout my teens. I constantly disrespected him. He never faltered though and continued to treat me like I was biologically his. As we were standing in the church on my wedding day, he kissed my forehead, pulled my veil down, and told me I looked stunning. He held out his arm and said, "Are you ready?" All I said was, "Thank you for everything!" I will never forget his response. "You don't have to thank me! That's what daddies do!" ....but he didn't have to!

This is one of my 24 year old sons favorite songs. He met the man he calls dad at 6 years old. One of the first things he said was, "Are you going to be my dad?" My now husband responded."I hope so." We have now been married 18 years, and he has legally adopted both my son and daughter. Who never knew their biological father. I love your reaction as always! And yes, we read the labels.

I dedicated and danced with my Daddy (never called him step dad), to this song at my sister's wedding. I was married way before this song came out. He was very ill when she got married, kidney cancer. We lost him 4 years ago...he was the greatest human ever! I cry every time I hear this song. Oh and I have never read the back of any kind of liquor bottle...and I worked at my Grandpa's liquor store for 2 years

It keeps happening to me for some reason damn it! Sometimes I click to watch your video & it's already to the part where you are reacting to the bourbon bribe & I missed the part where you react to the song & I don't know how to start it over & see what I missed. I'm terrible at computer stuff & that sucks! Love this song & I hope to get to see the whole reaction later. The man I called Daddy adopted me & my sister when we were little & he married our Mom. He died of cancer when I was 24 & never got to meet his namesake or my other son. I went into labor on the day of his funeral with my first son. I could not have chosen a better man to be my Daddy! I miss him so much! For another great song & guitar solo please react to the official music video #RemindMe by Brad Paisley & Carrie Underwood. Y'all will love it!

I have a friend, whose parents were in the marriage where they hated one another. You could feel the tension between them. When we were about 14, she came to school one day and said her mom and dad had gotten into another shouting match the night before and her ten-year-old brother stormed into the room and shouted at them to just get a divorce already. My friend said she spoke up then and said they were all miserable and enough was enough. A week later, their parents announced they were getting a divorce. So, yeah, kids know when their parents are miserable or hating one another and it just stresses them out. Kids pick up on so much more than people realize. And, once they were divorced and some time had passed, the mom and dad managed to not just co-parent, they actually became friends and each eventually remarried other people, but the animosity was gone. They were happy for one another. When my friend got married her dad and her stepdad walked her down the aisle. A really great reaction to this one. You should check out Reba's "The Greatest Man I Never Knew".

I lost my dad who didn't have to be back in May! I seem to catch myself thinking about him when I hear this song and other songs like this! He stayed with us for a few years before he passed away! I am so greatful my kids got to know him because he really was amazing! When my family became a real family and was still together he was a great role model on what to expect from your significant other and how to treat your significant other! I am in a happy marriage because I found the right guy and never settled for less then I deserved because of him! We are hoping that our kids learn the same lesson from us! We are not just husband and wife but each other's best friend! Not only do we show each other that we love each other but also say it all the time!

His biological mom is a piece of work, but his step mom raised him and she is awesome. She loves our kids like biological grandkids and she always supports us. Kudos to your wive Keith. For doing the same for your boy and being a great stepmom. In a lot of ways I’m not a typical German, but reading stuff on the back of bottles, instructions, warning labels and so on is something I do regularly. This has no relation to this song. But you should definitely check out Jason Boland, Jesus and Ruger but almost every Jason Boland song is a great one he’s more of a red dirt country artist. 12 ounce curls, pearl snaps, and Tennessee whiskey are also amazing. Jason Boland’s Tennessee whiskey has absolutely nothing to do with the David Allan Coe/Chris Stapleton, Tennessee whiskey. It’s a completely different song. Y’all keep doing what you’re doing because I can tell you that it brings myself and others so much joy to see your reactions to music that country fans love. I read the back of this 750 ml bottle of single barrel yesterday, that I tried to ship you. I couldn't do that from Maine. I had to buy another bottle of the same thing being delivered to BCR maybe Tuesday from a huge, big box store. It cost me over twice the price it's identical twin did in Maine, Plus shipping. --- You'll need nine more of us Dustin & Keith! It'll be my first bottle of "Likker", (as Popcorn Sutton called it) in 40 years. I'll pop the cork and savor it after you re-act to my bribe in a while. I hope to learn something new to me. I used to drink the inexpensive stuff then and never thought to be a taster, I was a drinker listening to your OG's and the British invasion, Kinks, Hollies, The Who, Stones ad-nauseum. I'm on a natural high now, not even weed. Three shots & three beers a year now only. I don't trust me with Likker much! The Amelas One wants to hear and see a video of "Sunday Morning Coming Down" (It keeps me straight). Kris Kristofferson wrote SMCD with Johnny Cash in mind and delivered it to that other Highwayman via helicopter for the second time to his yard. The direct approach worked. They sang a short Version of it together on Johhny's TV show long ago! I still liked Kris's version better. He wrote it and sang it in the style he studied of Hank Williams. Keith Richard actually recorded some Hank. Find it on the bar above your site window. Bob Dylan also studied Hank. They admired Hank Williams and his ways with lyrics and adding feeling or belief in the vocals. As Tee Tot told Hank, sing it like you mean it or lived it! All this aimless one did was enjoy it! The Amelas One

Wow, what a song. What an incredible song. I don't fully relate because I was blessed with truly incredible biological parents that are getting ready to celebrate their 35 anniversary! But I do feel the respect and admiration that he has for his "Dad". I think this could also be sung by someone who was adopted by both parents. I'm not married, so it's not something I can decide on now, but I think if I do get married and want to have kids I will think long and hard about adoption. There are a number of genetic predispositions and problems that I see through both my parents family trees. I worry about bringing another life into this world with my genetics. I've seen the pain my parents have gone through watching me go through medical problems that probably at least partly have a genetic component. Deep thing to think about for sure, but I do think it's important to consider.
