#teamsean I didn't even think about buying a bunch of 375mL, which I think is pretty smart if you are starting a collection so you have a lot more options to try. Also I have never seen Early Times but heard such good things. Dan had my favorite bottle which is RB, but don't like toasted barrel, and I would have allowed him $2 to go over budget to get the OF100 over OF86, idk why anyone would buy 86 over 100. Similar with WT81 vs WT101

Gotta go with Dan on this one. Both really good hauls but the Rare Breed, Eagle Rare, and Old Forester rye completely did it for me. 3 of my favorites. I haven’t tried EC toasted yet, $90 where I live.

Dan all day long, I’m not a fan of the smaller bottles on the shelf. I like to show my collection off to friends and the little bottles just don’t look right. Unless it’s a hyper unavailable bottle then it has a story. Idk that’s just me but dans got it.

There is a video on YT somewhere of a guy with a multi-million dollar collection, and it begins with a small room that is four walls of shelves floor to ceiling with small bottles. But one of the shelves is a hidden door that leads to the real collection of full sized bottles, that is housed in a room bigger than my entire four bedroom house. I thought that was a pretty impressive collection of small bottles.

Sean won by a mile with the variety. Without knowing it, he hit on a great way to figure out your likes and dislikes, your palate, and your store(s). This isn’t just about building a collection. This is about testing/exploring multiple whiskeys and figuring out your tastes without breaking your budget, especially these days.

I guess might a toss up? On one hand Dan has some bottles that could be seen as unicorn finds to a newbie. Then Sean went with the cornucopia approach that let's someone find their likes and dislikes in whiskey. But no Scotch?? I did see a Dewars Double Double in one of those shop pans. I think you both failed. (The Ardbeg Dan bought for himself proves my point)

Wanna hear ridiculousness? Elijah Craig Toasted the cheapest I’ve seen it here in NY was 99$ typically I see it for 120-150$ range. So yeah I’d love to start my collection with that as at the price of an ECBP or Larceny BP I’ll never get one. Awesome video. Really enjoyed it.
