I never learned to appreciate whiskey until recently and almost age 65. I drank my share of JD and WT 40 years ago but never appreciated them. Bought a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter cask last week after watching one of your reviews. Almost spit out the first sip it was so unfamiliar. I won't say bad. but the second sip was different. Not good but not bad. After third sip I started to fall in love. Thank you for making the rest of my life much more enjoyable! I think my wife has a crush on Daniel.

I'm an American living in the Philippines and it's likely in the running for the best place on the planet to become an alcoholic :-) Johnnie Walker sets the stage here with the Black Label being probably the best deal going at only about $19 a liter; Double Black is about $10 more per liter. Gold Label Reserve is about $25/750ml. The Green Label is about $39/750ml. And the Platinum Label is about $59/750ml. I don't know how that's even possible. But if they're counterfeit then someone is doing a damn good job. For mixing, I've seen the Red Label for as low as $10 a liter. But the Philippines has a decent 5-year-old 80 proof whiskey (White Castle) that works great for that at less than $5 for a 750ml bottle. Glenlivet 12 is about $32/750ml, Glenfiddich 12 a couple of Dollars more. Maker's Mark is about $16.50 for a 750ml bottle. Bulleit is about $28 for a liter. Monkey Shoulder is about $32 for a 750ml bottle, 40% ABV.

I found a bottle of knappogue castle 12 year for $35 out the door because the liquor store bought a barrel of it and nobody was buying it. I keep trying to talk them into buying another barrel.

Laphroaig 10 is $50 here in Jacksonville Florida. I haven't tasted it but I tried Ardbeg and Ardbeg was the only scotch I've tasted that I liked.(I tried Johnnie Walker blue and it was drinking water to me)

Man I remember being able to get four roses single barrel for about 40 bucks before the pandemic. I miss that, it was so good for that price, but for 50 plus bucks now it’s definitely a splurge. Still a damn fine bourbon! I got my start with whiskey on the monkey shoulder

Hi! Just a question, could you make (if you haven't already) a video where you pick out different wiskeys starting from beginner to intermediate and then to advanced? Would be nice for a newbie like myself. I really like what you are doing by the way! Cheers.

I am new to whiskey. I here are a few that I like. Monkey Shoulder, Four Roses single barrel, Knob Creek single barrel, WoodFord Reserve. LAGAVULIN 16 which does take some time to get used too. They did a video on best. Whiskey glasses the one they are using. Is a noseing whiskey glass. Costs seven dollars and works great.

they did one sort of like that, you'll need to hunt for it. but then you'll be watching more of their vids, so......win win

Just tried this last night of the first time. Really enjoyed it. It's a very close number 2 for me to Buffalo Trace. So smooth and solid price

I found your channel by a different source. "Old Fart" here (retired now) and enjoy my Whiskey as a Neat Sippper/or 3-5 drop water drip (sniff, slow sip, hold, taste, swallow, hold, breath) meathod. I'm no damn snob...a hard ass working man...but I relax and enjoy my Whiskey as a reward to a day or weeks work. I subscribed after watching a few videos, because alot of what you say is "CORRECT"....no KZbin lies here. Well done!!!

My go to is Slane - runs about $28 for 750ml in Delaware. Jameson's another yummy choice about $1 less than Slane.

Just picked up a bottle of Monkey Shoulder for $30 today, came home, and saw this review. I dont usually spend more than $40 on a bottle, and this is a favorite for me in that $30-40 price range.

Maybe now do a mid-price one! (50 - 100)

Just curious if you guys have done a video on what scotch you'd recommend to someone new to scotches as a must try in regards to each region. For example, what scotch or distillery is a must try to get an understanding of what that region is best known for each region. i.e.. highlands, isles, etc??? Looking to expand my bar :)

Damn I wish I had these prices in Western NY. It has been two years.. But add 10-15$ to all your prices and that's where I'm at. 🤷♂️

Best value on the market, at least for me is, "(The Tyrconnell)" . It's great on its own but also mixes well with just about anything! For give or take $40.00, you can't go wrong!

You really can't go wrong with having Buffalo Trace around as your everyday whisky.

As an example of how I've found whiskies to REALLY depend on what you've tasted before - take the "budget" but surprisingly well acclaimed Highland Black 8yo (by Aldi) - on my first trial of it - it merely tasted like watered down Black Label - with the smokey notes really muted. However, I've now just tried it after a glass of Bulleit Bourbon, and wow. It now tastes completely different. The sweetness has been turned up to eleven, there's none of the hints of smokiness anymore and it is all fruity crème brûlée & butterscotch on the nose and in taste - crazy! It almost tastes like a desert wine now O___o - has anyone else had a similarly extreme experience with whiskies tasting completely different?

FYI this particular whisky is the "own brand" whisky from a "budget" supermarket here in the UK, RRP £12.99!!

Ive only just recently started really liking whiskey ...I admit, for the longest time I have hated whiskey something in the taste made me feel nauseus. But then I happened to buy Bulleit just out of mad curiousity and ever since I have been converted. Gotta come back to these crowdsourced videos you guys have made and go down the list. lol.. Thanks for recommendations!

I know this one's not cheap but it blowed my tastebuds right away: Glenfarclas 105 cask strength. A reaaally nice scotch that costs 100$ CAD Love the videos btw, just started watching these and it is really interesting!!

I paid 35€ for a Liter bottle and yes, way to often overlooked when it's on to value. All the niceness of the Orange notes cranked to 11. My favorite non smokey scotch atm

Apologies if this has already been said somewhere but if a bottle has a screw top or a cork stopper can change the taste of what's in the bottle over time

Monkey shoulder is always stocked in my liquor cabinet. Once it runs lows I buy another. Down here in Florida I’m getting a bottle for like 30 bucks. Can’t beat it. Everyone I’ve ever recommended it to or let try love it.

I know your asking about whiskey, but I like scotch nowadays, Glenfiddich 12 is fine, but the 18, which is more than double the price of the 12 is worth the price, but a little too pricey for all the time use
