I had a VW break down completely (had to be carried) 3 times: one complete engine failure, one injector failure and one fuel pump failure, and a 4th time where it wasn't complete failure but just the turbo which made it crawl with 40 km/h. The moral is, every brand has its lemons. The issues with Giulias are mostly solved by firmware updates and none of them actually stop you completely to get to your destination. Just be sure to check with your dealer to get all your updates from the start and you should be golden.

I leased a 2017 Giuliani Sport in Michigan. I absolutely loved the car and still miss it, even though it was bought back by FCA under lemon law 10 months into my ownership. Mine had a lot of issues with the drive by wire system, worst was when the throttle pedal stopped responding entirely while driving on a busy street... three times. I hope those issues were fixed after the first year in the US. When it ran, though, I really loved it and I am looking lustfully at the newer examples hoping they are better. I agree with others, I nearly always turned off the start/stop function every time I started the car. It was annoying and I figured whatever infinitesimal amount of fuel I might save over a few years would pale in comparison to premature wear on an Italian starter motor. The other minority annoying issue was the drivers seat that always moved back when the car was turned off. There was no way to override this. I may been one of the few people who used the backseat often to carry my kids and this meant we rarely used the rear behind the driver if we could avoid it. Stupid and useless “feature.”

I constantly had a bumper issue. They are cheap and the precut holes hiding the tow screw hole for towing wouldn’t stay in. CPU would randomly reboot. Causing issues. Lost acceleration. It was some random part that went bad. There was a 60 day span that I had the car for less than 20 days. It was in the shop 5 times trying to find and fix issues. The stop start system can be defeated by doing an old stationary break torque like in the old street drag days ..I did it out of Leonardo Da Vinci airport and it never did it again . But as far as I know it van be programmed out . I drove the car for solid month and had no issues of any kind other than a lazy hood release.
