Update: I dedicate this video to Flt Lt Jon Egging, his Wife Emma and the RAF Red Arrows team. Sadly, Red Arrow pilot Jon Eggins died today (20/08/11) in a crash of his RAF Hawk T1. My most sincere condolences go to Jon Egging's family, his friends and the RAF Red Arrows team.
Unfortunately I cannot take the time to reply to each comment posted on this video. I would like to say thank you to all of you that have viewed this video and made comments. It has been a pleasure having this video on my channel and to read all of the heartfelt sympathies of the people commenting.
R.I.P Flt Lt Jon Egging - A true Hero.

I saw this performance in live in Bournemouth and it was 24 minutes of skill and bravery. It made me very proud to be British. To hear about the tragedy of what happened on the Saturday really shook me as I'd heard the commentator guy talk about "Eggman". RIP Red 4.

My condolences go to the family, friends and collegues of Flight Lietenant Jon Egging. The red Arrows are greatly symbolic to the British people, and he died to save others on the ground below, and that is a display of selflessness that we should all look up to. He made us proud and the MOD owe it to him to make sure that it does not happen again. R.I.P Jon, you did a grand job.

@TradPK No, the fact that it's an 'instinct' would mean it would be self preservation. Such as ejecting or trying to stay up instead of pull away and loosing altitude in the process.

@slothgoonies I agree that what happened was tragic, however, if he had full control of the aircraft to enable him to steer away from houses, then why didn't he just fly back to the airport? He was easily doing 350-400kts, he had plently of opportunity and speed. My guess guess is a) he didn't steer it away from the houses, he didn't have a choice through a control lock issue, OR a medical complaint rendered him unable to fly and eject.
@RaheemD
@RaheemD 13 жыл бұрын
Which one crashed? :S and my friend literally lived up the road from this. Apparently, the pilot avoided all of these houses which then didn't give him enough ttime to eject his seem meaning he died when he hit the water

@PaPaJiMbO1983

@jrobertsoneff Yes because he manouvered his plane from a heavily populated area and brought it down in a field.There most likely wasnt enough time to use the ejector seat.

@Neutrinoghost Just because he was able to avoid the houses doesn't mean that he could just "fly back to the airport." You dont need full controll of the aircraft to be able to avoid houses, if he had full control of the aircraft, which he clearly didnt, then he would never have crashed.

I'm surprised how many comments know the pilot's intentions and all the intricacies of the incident. I guess interneters can work these things out far faster than inquiries the RAF conduct. I suppose the RAF can lift their grounding now eh? But, a serious nod to these pilots and their awesome talent. I doubt there's any other aerobatics team in the world, who are held is as high regard as the RAF's Red Arrows.

my grandad fueled his plane, so far it seems the plane had a mechanical fault as when the plane hit the ground it didn't explode which is strange and also they were only supposed to do 2 fly passes but they decided to do a 3rd and his aircraft may of ran out of fuel.

@slothgoonies Umm... I'm not hating, and no disrespect intended, but if you're flying an aircraft which is about to crash and still has the ability to be controlled properly by the user, would your first instinct not be, 'I need to stop this aircraft from killing other people'... Yes it is a selfless act but one which comes naturally to a human being

@BrotherYounis This is not the place for spreading religious hatred. Please at least research before posting mindless comments. Flt Lt Jon Egging proudly supported coalition ground forces when flying operational missions in Afghanistan as well as taking part in exercises in the United Kingdom and America. As part of Joint Force Harrier, Jon served with IV(AC) Squadron on HMS Illustrious, flying training missions off the UK coastline.
