Bow and Arrow Taro ( Original title : Kyuushi Tarou / Yumiya Tarou ) Story
Today is the anniversary of the great Sugawara Michizane’s death. The people of the neighbourhood have gathered to have a festival. There, a man called Taro appears bearing a bow and arrow, cutting a truly gallant figure. Contrary to his appearance, it is rumoured that Taro is quite a coward, so today everybody is conspiring to expose him by telling him scary stories. Taro, totally ignorant of their plans, begins to regale them with tales of his heroism, and they try to frighten him with a scary story about a fox and tell him about ogres in the Tenjin Forest. Taro continues to put on a brave front, and they propose a test of courage: place a folding fan on the branch of a pine tree in the Tenjin Forest. He decides to accept the challenge, and he can’t turn back later! Just like in a haunted house, the person who challenged Taro disguises themself as an ogre and waits for him, trying to get him once and for all. Now then, how will this contest play out?
