Do you have one on just the painting process as you skipped that and it turned out beautifully? How did you get it to match?

Nice job. I really like the care you took with some of the camera angles. I don't really need to do this, but maybe you have inspired me to put it on next year's list.

I have never worked with fiberglass. What type of brush are you using and where do I get one?

My outboard failed and couldn't control the idle so hit the dock so now I get to do the repair on my Catalina 30 thanks for the video.

Steve AnacortesWA welcome to the bow eye repair club! Hate that happened to you though.

What made the "peanut butter" consistency turn brown? (The 407 itself?)

Well done! I have the exact same repair to do and I had bought a repair kit off of amazon.com. Now I am thinking the repair kit won't be enough to do the job. There is plenty of glass with the kit but I don't think it comes with the 410 fairing filler. I suppose I could just buy that online. Thanks for showing your repair process.

No problem. I hope it helped.

You're so lucky you have the older model, I need to do that and I have the anchor locker so you cant access they bow eye nuts
@craigc27214 жыл бұрын
I just did the same repair on my boat. I used a similar aluminum plate. My only comment is from all the videos I’ve watched the bow eye should be below the trailer roller and not on top as you showed on yours. With it on top it won’t stop the boat from bouncing on the trailer. Also the strap should go under the roller. Just my two cents. Nice repair.

I actually ended up using a thick steel backing plate that my father-in-law talked me into. I have always had issues with the way the trailer roller is positioned. I really appreciate your advice on that. I'll try to modify my trailer. What I have obviously does not work well.

Thanks for the video. My boat is all cracked around the front hook so it looks like I’ll be repairing it when the summer is over

Glad it helped!

How big of an access hole did you have to cut in the anchor locker to perform the repair? Or is your boat older where you could access from the cabin?
@ECUmedford3 жыл бұрын
My boat is a 1976, so I don't have an anchor locker to worry about. Although, I WISH I had an anchor locker to worry about. Those things are sweet. I have heard of people cutting out a circle and installing an inspection port inside the anchor locker. That should work.

well done. What kind of paint did you use? Txs.

Sure, I use Interlux Brightside.

I see plenty of comments but no responses. Where did you get the aluminum backing plate
@ECUmedford3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I had no idea this video was getting this much response. That backing plate was just off a piece of Aluminum that I purchased at Lowe's. My father-in-law convinced me to put in a piece of steel backing plate instead and he gave me a scrap piece to use.

You did a good job here, but the cable from the winch must go under the roller. If you get into a collision, that boat will come up over and smash into your car. You might want to adjust your trailer winch a bit higher.

Where did u get that plate @ 25 seconds?
@ECUmedford3 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the rounded plate? That came with the kit I purchased at Catalina Direct.
