This content is SO much more enjoyable than watching some guy in a box blind sitting over a private unpressured food plot, or over a 200 lb pile of corn. This is real hunting. You guys are the most dedicated hunters I've ever seen. And that's coming from a guy who bowhunts 40-50 times a year, hangs his stand every time he hunts, and will sit dark to dark in single digit temps.

Oh god the blind hunting is awful. Especially for turkeys. I think the THP guys have started a spot and stalk ghillie bow revolution as I’ve seen more and more videos since Zach started doing it more.

@@JimRyser I've taken 3 doe, the last 1 in 2020 that were live weight 200 lbs. Different breed of animal. I like getting rid of them cuz it makes the buck hunting much more of a possibility with a bow when they aren't around. Most of this old doe get chased by yearlings but not bred. The key to killing them is to be waiting in a 🌳 crosswind of them when they drop their fawns to leave their area to go find a buck that is suitable. This year I was 1 day late & ended up babysitting 2 fat fawns that I got alot of video of but nothing for my freezer.

Great video! That oak tree y'all were in is called a nut all. It's in the red oak family and are late droppers. In Louisiana, we call it the striped oak due to the strips on the acorns. They are planted heavily in CRP down south.
@jakemitchell1671
@jakemitchell1671 2 жыл бұрын
Yep. All over CRP in MS, pretty much the only acorn source you'll see in those areas, because they produce in just a few years. But that one is much older or you wouldn't be able to hunt out of it. Their lower limbs are almost to the ground and goodness knows their branches are thickly spaced. Yall did a fantastic job getting two grown men in that "nutall!"

You betcha, waiting here in MN for Thursday morning when it's going to be a balmy 22* like 24 hours from now. It's-2* right now. I'm in doe mode since I got a look @ my target buck that I found a 2020 shed from. He's wider than I thought since I got a short Browning video from the 3rd of him. He could be 24" inside next year & all I know is that he will be a typical 8 or 10 in 2022. 2 days left of hard hunting here until the temps drop everywhere the next week. Hopefully I won't encounter any more idiots with a dog looking for pheasants that they will never find.😳

Nice work men. Here in southeast New York we call those oaks pin oaks they grow in heavy ground and colonize the abandoned farm fields and pastures first, they grow pretty fast and drop nuts later than the other oaks and are tough to hunt out of ,but with that said with a little trimming they are to me the best trees to bow hunt from because of the cover both front and back. Most all my best bow setups are in these trees and I routinely have deer walk under and by me cause they can’t pick you off with all the limbs, once in while you have one come in that you can’t shoot but if your patient the shots come.

Hey idk if y’all know this but i heard it a long time ago and helped me tremendously. While bow hunting it is a higher probability of the deer ducking the string if they have their head down feeding. If their head is up the motion they make trying to flee is a longer motion so it gives your arrow tome to get there before they duck the arrow. Regardless great videos, if u ever come back to middle Tennessee to hunt id love to show u some spots.
@robz355
@robz355 2 жыл бұрын
Deer don’t duck..it’s there squat / launch because they heard your bow ..they spring off there back legs to get the hell out of there..record yourself shooting and then listen to your arrow flying to the target too..bet you hear it cutting thru the air

Guys, that's great deer hunting right there. Forget the huge bucks on managed properties shot from heated boxes. The vast majority of those hunters have NEVER harvested a deer like that. A doe with archery gear is PLENTY challenging in the South, where deer simply don't move like they do in other regions. I've hunted AR and MS my entire life, mostly on public lands. It's HARD hunting. It takes yall's kind of skill and persistence to get it done. Congrats!

Here in Florida I always hunt in the afternoon 100 to 200-yards from the road. The 3 largest bucks I've killed were taken 100 to 150-yards from the road. The largest I ever killed was my 125-inch 10-point, and I got him with a bow right at 100-yards from the road. There was a major trail crossing the road so I parked my truck on the trail hoping if the deer got past me it would scare them back towards me. sitting in the stand I could see the bottle of Poweraid I left on the hood of my truck. lol. And about 15-minutes before last light he came walking through 25-yards from my tree and I stuck him, and he ran and fell about 45-yards from my truck. The best and easiest hunt I've ever been on. My entire life I have seen deer feeding the side of the roads right at and after dark. So that told me there are deer coming to the roads just about every night.

I've ground hunted an area like that here in Iowa and the deer are so comfortable in that thick stuff that they'll get up and move around all hours of the day. You just need to get in and find a good setup and eventually one or more will come walking by. Ironically it's also right by a road. Most hunters just avoid it and go past it because it's so thick and right off the road. It's all about entering the area undetected and quiet and staying that way the entire time. The deer can get pretty close.
