Aimed at the boat owner who would like to undertake simple boat repairs themselves, demonstrations will focus on basic glass fibre work and gel coat repairs. The workshops will include information on what materials to use and the standard procedures to follow in any repair work to provide the keen amateur with the knowledge and confidence to undertake straight forward repair work themselves.
Demonstrations will take place at 11.00, 12.15, 1300, 1415 and 1500 on Saturday and Sunday under the organ loft in the Great Hall.
Between demonstrations Pete and his team will be on hand to answer any specific questions you may have.

Very good instructions, but please remind people that sanding fiberglass with an angle grinder is bad for the lungs and bad for the skin. So in the safety instructions wearing a mask is a must.

Hi, quick question, if you don't know what resin they used making the boat, is it a big deal if you used epoxy resin if the boat was made using polyester resin and vice versa? Thanks.

I'm presently working on a bow. In using aluminum I beams. Done with plywood. 😬 anyone had experience using aluminum in place or conjunction with marine grade plywood.

No a Tyvex suite is not a substitute for a filter mask when sanding fiberglass... Bad instructional video because.

save yourself some work, tape off around the repair area first and you wont need to sand near as much ;-)

I made it by myself. I used woodprix woodworking plans for that.

I wouldn't let this bloke anywhere near any boat of mine having looked up his experience in boat repairs. Who am I to criticise? Over 45 years building boats as well as 3 years at boat building college with distinctions and top student in the UK for my year. It really pisses me off to see rank amateurs posting wrong information on KZbin where people who know even less come to learn. Just hope I'm not at any of your demonstrations, I'll soon speak up and embarrass you. I've already had to put that charlatan Cunliffe in his place but as is so often true, in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king.....

what did he do wrong? I have a skiff that has fiberglass damage towards the bow, and I'm trying to figure out what needs to be done. I'm curious to see what you would've done differently and if your interested I can email you some pictures to get your input.
