Bow Thruster Fail in Alton S1:E42

We continue down the Illinois River and on to the Mississippi along with all the Loopers who had been waiting for the locks to open on October 1st. We have a bow thruster malfunction in Alton although disaster was averted. We visit the famous Mel's Riverdock Restaurant and Logsdon Tug and are treated to a history lesson by the Director of Public Works in Beardston, Illinois. He just jumped out of his truck when he saw us and asked if he could tell us all about his town!

Nicely done! Sorry you had to deal with a bow thruster surprise, but ya'll handled it nicely! Good history lesson in Beardstown, and you got to see "Old Settlers Days" in Hardin. Hopefully the next leg goes at least that smoothly!

Yes, other than Chris not telling me right away the bow thruster was hooped, it was basically just keeping it slow. We are in Mobile right now...the Mississippi went well, although with Kaskaskias (sp?) off line when we flew by, we put in a 109 mile day which was too much. It was nuts coming down the rivers the first week after we left your marina (Heritage Harbor). It was like everyone thought they'd miss dinner in Mobile!! After Paducah everyone seemed to settle down a bit. ;)

Well the video was entertaining and fairly well done I have to say you ought to check the Canadian attitude at the border when you come to visit us here in the US you seem to have a bit of an attitude in my opinion so see if you can work on that nicely done
