We finally cruise in salt water when we arrive at Grand Mariner Marina on Dog River near Mobile, Alabama. It's time to change the zincs and to address some other much needed maintenance. We plan to spend a few days on the hard but when we have to unexpectedly wait for parts to arrive we take advantage of the delay and make a side trip to New Orleans. Thanks for watching!

Very good video showing the extended stay. NO is a wonderful place to enjoy leisure time. It is one of our favorite places to visit. Seen a lot of changes since 67 and is an easy drive from where we live. Enjoy the south and eat all you can. Sorry about the foot and the thruster, now you can venture closer to the warmer weather. Hate the cold. Time to recoup

Cold is relative for us! It's interesting though...you start to expect the heat and then you - I - get a bit cranky about the lack of! :)

I remember that place! I remember Mark telling you about our Starlink to help you out. I was so cold that I must have much thinner blood than you😂

I ended up sitting on the dock trying to download. I was there until 2 am when I gave up. I ended up using my data in the end.

I really like Chris' mechanical details. Getting a look at the bow thruster and (well a bit of) the stuffing box is gold for me. New Orleans looks amazing. Sounds like you could have gotten stuck in many worse places than that. For what it's worth, Andrew Jackson was a revolutionary war soldier, a general in the War of 1812 (you know, the one in which Canada was victorious - c'mon folks, someone has to take the bait) and the 7th president of the US. Probably notable in New Orleans for an 1812 victory in the Battle of New Orleans, if I remember right. My guess is, if they're considering removing his statue, it probably has to do with his pretty genocidal policies towards Native Americans (see "Trail of Tears"). Not exactly an abolitionist either of course, so maybe that plays into it as well.

Hey Thomas! Did you mean revolutionary war? Because I think that was 1775-1783. Civil War 1860-1864 ish...The War of 1812 was the one where we burned down the Whitehouse! Arguably the last time any American would have cause to fear a Canadian in any way. Here we are Canadians discussing American history! Yes, I would think you are correct. Many statues are coming down for that very reason. You would really love New Orleans. Very cool city.

Yeah, he was not Civil War general. He was a "War of 1812" general, and a soldier in the Revolutionary War. @@gothatawaychrisandsandra

Love the videos. Quick question . . . how have you secured your soft solar panels to the soft bimini top? Magnets or thru bolting? I was using magnets but a storm blew one of mine off our bimini so I'm looking for options for reattaching our panels.

We are using magnets as well. During the bad weather last week we stored our panels inside the boat as we have not seen wind that strong. Otherwise, it has worked so far but have definitely thought of alternatives such as through bolting them in place.
