Hi InnerFidelity really enjoy watching your vids, in fact your V-Moda M100 vid really helped me with my decision & I ended up getting a pair. They are amazing headphones thats for sure I can't recommend them enough. Anyway I am looking at purchasing some IEM for use with my Sony Walkman mp3, trying to decide between Ultimate Ears 900 or B&W C5? Any advice or thoughts?

@hudent If you want a good noise canceling theadphone, the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 is the best I've heard.

Had mine for about 4 months - my first 'pricey' headphone of any type. I get a little discomfort after an hour or so - but bearable. Took a while to get a good fit/position. Once I did the sound is better than my on ear AKGK541's - more detail and better bass (once I got the fit right). Just need to save for P5's now.

Those are good starters. It all depends on what you're upgrading from. If you're just upgrading from the apple headphones, go for it. As you get into higher end speakers, they all sound great, but some emphasize different aspects of the music, and you really end up picking something to your liking.

How would you compare the c5 to the Klipsch x10i?

I've had these earphones for a bit more than a week (Watched the video with them, actually. Very meta.), and I don't experience the pain you describe, but I do have a bit of difficulty getting it to fit properly. My left ear fits it perfectly, but my right tends to push against it a bit. The Bose IE2 had a similar concept to the Secure Loop with a silicone arm that fits in the inside of the outer ear... Maybe B&W will go silicon next time?

Good review but one thing you didn't mention is that the part that is adjustable and a little uncomfortable can be pulled out so it is no longer a loop.

I have a 30 euro pair of sony in ear headphones and personally i find them pretty much perfect would i get any benefit out of buying this 150 euro pair of headphones

What do you mean the bass was elevated? Was the frequency of the bass elevated or was the strength of the bass elevated?

I think they are pretty decent myself. Definitely colored but after some burn-in the bass really settled in nicely for me. I didn't experience any discomfort, especially after adding comply tips. I think there are certainly better buds out there, b

@MorningRise90 he is referring to the ratio of bass to over all volume. some headphones create too much bass and it is not what the musician intended it to sound like.

@23GrandMasterK I have been using mine for a full day now and I personally do not feel the bass is overpowering at all. Also, I could not disagree with him more about the secure loop. This is the first time I have felt fully comfortable with a pair of earphones. The loop's job is to make for a secure fit (you can bang your head up and down with these and they will not fall out if they are in correctly). They weren't going to do something as odd as this w/o caring for comfort. I love my pair.

there is no word such as "better" when it comes to music. its about your preference. some like beats some like Final Audio, some like Westone. its up to your sound preference whether you like a heavy bass, clear treble and so on...

i just bought c5 yesterday, i have owned se535 and se215 too. se535 is cold sounding to me, i sold them after like a month. well, that's ba signature i guess. i enjoy se215 and c5 is definitely an upgrade if u like se215. c5 is warm, bass is heavy yes, but depends on which genre you are listening to. it basically sounds similar to se215 but with more details. i definitely enjoy this over my akg q701, akg k450, shure se215, denon ahnc600 and senheiser momentum on ear.

@InnerFidelity We rarely disagree but.. I own both the P5s and the C5s. The listening experience for the C5s is extremely sensitive to the earbuds used. They have to be snug. I thought the original buds were OK but was disappointed with the sound. Then I changed the buds for the smaller ones, they fit a lot better in my ear and the sound quality improved dramatically, to something better than my Klipsch x10is. The loops fit better too & I'd now recommend them.

If the bass is too high, change the EQ on your iPod. Or, just turn it down..

@applesmnch2 I had the IE2 before I got my C5, and the C5 is a step up from the IE2. The main issue is fit, because the IE2 is much, much MUCH, easier to put on than the C5, which is a bit fiddly with my ears. The C5 sound is way better, though, if you can get past the upped bass.

Try putting short to medium size ear caps and they wont give any problems.

For the Price of these earphones i thought they were great! i tried earphones with similar prices like Shure se315, Klipsch X5, beats tours (dont get them) and thought that the B&W c5 were much better in sound and confort.

beats are a overpriced marketing stunt..those beats added to much low/mid base and mid/high mid. that makes the bass and melody come out more.. but when you hear hifi, studio speakers.. you never go back to those old crappy stuff.. and that includes beats by dr.dre for me.. i also have the c5.. i like em alright.. but my studio speaker set wins from all.. so sweet.. music how its meant to be, when it was made. but don't get me wrong, the c5 sound gr8 for its price and for being in ears

I would take what this guy is saying lightly, look at all his electrical equipment and toolboxes etc. He is most probably a fully fledged audiophile, I like a good pair of haidphones and I have a pair of audio technicas. Anyway these probably sound great but he is making too much of an issue :/
