I just compared the 606 and 706. The 606 was very good ... the 706 was crazy good. I liked the brightness and clarity. Listened with both the Marantz 40 and 50 and the Denon 4800. I would never complain about owning the 606's but the 706's are the clear win. I'll save money elsewhere in my life to pay for them. Agree with your review !

@@0102studio Actually I haven't purchased yet. Planning on doing so over Black Friday. I like ~30% off. :). Open to recommendations on a receiver. Currently have a 20 yr old entry level Denon, probably 70w supporting 5.1 surround. Looking at the 3800 Denon and 60 Marantz. May need the power of the 50 Marantz? Would like (hope) to get the receiver for $1500 or less.

Had a similar setup. Cinema 70 didn’t have enough to drive them. Added Emotiva power amp to drive the fronts and it is new system. Good review 😊

@@0102studio They are a very fine sounding speaker. Just auditioned an arcam avr 31 with them and I find it to be a great combo. BTW I also bought the 706 s3 matching center.

They’re close. Its been a while since I had the Silver 100 so my recency bias leans toward the 706. But I recall being smitten with the 100. I wish I could have them both!!

Good review. I have enjoyed my front ported dm601 s3 for 20+ years now. I would be interested in auditioning these as a well overdue upgrade/replacement. Similar to your positioning close to the wall, can I ask if there was any mid bass frequency issues with the rear port.

Nice Do you think the new 606 or 706 will last that long like BW 685 s1 did. Your speakers appear like new 🙂. I own DM 603 S3 and other system two HTM 61 s1 in stereo configuration, they all look like day one and of course using them every day.

Time will tell, I just picked up a pair of 606’s. But I love my older 685s and try to take care of them. Though there is some noticeable wear…
