I just ordered one today on their website for $129. I’ll report back. I had xm3, 4 and 5 and also Momentum 2 headphone. Looking for more close range soundstage (more intimate) so I can hear the percussion etc. (details) So far I’m liking my wife’s Beats Studio + for closer soundstage and enough bass. I save my Momentum 2 for song that has more bass.

Great review Gene and Eric! I appreciate the new format! Change is always a good thing. I enjoyed his comments on the sound and use but not just the usual "music sounds great" or "comfortable". I really liked the in-depth comments on podcasts, different exercise uses, and call and general features. GREAT WORK.

I would rather hear a thorough review. The “blind” comparison is lost on me as I would expect a professional reviewer can compare and contrast known products without bias.

@@SealedOrPorted I agree that a thorough review is preferable - the B&W case has a great wireless transmitter function for listening to devices without Bluetooth that wasn't mentioned. Unfortunately, prior knowledge and expectations do bias perceptions, however expert & professional the reviewer - which is why blind testing is the gold standard for assessing reproduction. Having said that, 'Bowers & Wilkins' was written around the top of each earbud, so, unless that was also covered up, he could have been subliminally influenced by that. Human perception is complicated... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Frankly, in practice, for the consumer buying the product, I don't think it's possible to isolate the sound from all the other perceived physical and psychological attributes of the product. Quality of build, visual appearance, price, weight, comfort, branding, etc., will inevitably influence one's perception of the sound. So I go with what sounds best to me having seen some reviews and listened to a few in my price range that seem promising.
