Like the original editions of PX7, Bowers & Wilkins bundles a nice headphone case to help protect your investment while you’re on-the-go. The case is well designed, slips easily into a backpack or a bag, and has a little more depth than most bundled cases to accommodate the PX7 Carbon Edition’s slightly larger ear cups. We love that the PX7 Carbon Edition features swiveling ear cups. This allows you to lay them flat on a desk or stow them away in the carrying case. Inside the case, a 3.5mm headphone cable and a USB-C cable are included.
The new Bowers and Wilkins PX 7 Carbon Edition has a striking high-end appearance. It features a lightweight composite carbon fiber, cloth and aluminum construction that makes it really look like a high-performance race car. The new Carbon Edition features shiny diamond-cut edges that surround the ventilation ports on the sides of the ear cups and this Bowers & Wilkins tells us this design harkens back to their classic P5 headphone. We really like the crisp contrast here between the diamond-cut edges and the durable black cloth on the ear cups. Since the diamond-cut edges affect airflow around the drivers, the engineers at B&W told us they spent months on end perfecting the new eye-catching design while also preserving the original edition’s iconic B&W sound signature fans already know and love. You can still get the original edition PX7 in either space grey and silver color-options, but we think the high-end look B&W produced here takes the high-end look to a completely new level of luxury. The new PX7 Carbon Edition has a USB-C port on the right ear cup for charging the battery. This is cool because Bowers and Wilkins is one of the only brands out there who makes the USB-C port capable of both charging and passing high res audio through this wired connection.
In terms of comfort, The B&Ws weigh just 10 ounces. After about 15-minutes of wearing these, the pressure on top of my head is evenly distributed around my ears which really helps reduce pressure-points. The PX7’s all have pressure-relieving foam pads that are slightly larger compared to most headphones in this class too, so these will cover more surface area around your ears, and give you more room for your ears to breath. We are really impressed that the new PX7 Carbon Edition allows us to wear them just as long as the original editions without our ears getting clammy or sweaty. Overall, the strong yet lightweight materials in this special edition version creates a secure-fit that also stays comfortable longer.
The PX7s all have adaptive noise-canceling features which means the active noise-cancelling can automatically adjust to your environment. So, if you’re sitting in a plane listening to music, they’ll cancel out the plane noise, but as you walk through the terminal, they’ll re-adjust or “adapt” to the noise in your new environment. One area where Bowers and Wilkins slightly outshines most competitors in the noise cancelling category is the battery life. With active noise-cancelling turned on, I find the B&W's run over 25-hours on a single charge. The PX7s present a wide soundstage with good deep bass reproduction across a wide range of frequencies. B&W utilized the same engineers as the ones behind their prestigious 800 Series Diamond speakers which are the ones used at Abbey Road Studios and this is what makes both the original edition PX7 and the new Carbon Edition stand out. These inherit B&W’s custom 43.6mm drivers which are larger than the 40mm drivers used in virtually every other headphone in this class. So with these, you’ll hear a really broad presentation of lower frequencies across the board especially on recordings where there’s a lot of natural instruments playing all at once.

So what are the exact differences between the original and the carbon edition besides their look? Does the diamond cut edges even affect my experience? I haven't read about any striking differences on their website. Thanks for your answer!

From a functional standpoint, they are nearly the same but the Carbon Edition takes the high-performance look to a whole new level of luxury. Hi All. The headphone has just arrivied. It works with mobile phones, and MAC laptop. But cannot connect it via bluetooth to laptop with windows. It pairs, but appears as OTHER DEVICE, not as AUDIO, so it is not visible as headphone. It works via USB cable, but this is not what I bought it for. I tried update drivers from B&W website, but they dont apply to PX7 carbon edition. Can you help?

I have the feeling that my standard iphone wired headphones have higher volume than my b&w carbon edition… is it normal?
@AudioAdvice
@AudioAdvice 2 жыл бұрын
It could be yes, all headphones have a different impedance which will effect how loud it sounds at the same level, which is neither good or bad if you have enough power to drive them, some very high impedance headphones do benefit from a separate amp. Thanks for watching

Greetings Nishant. We appreciate your point that this was a super positive review. A few points we should have made. First, the PX7 is a best in breed wireless noise cancelling headphone, and one that really stands out. The second point is that for every review we do, there are dozens of products we don't put out videos on. In other words, we simply don't waste people's time with reviews and comparisons on products that we don't believe in. The third point is that our individual reviews are where we dive deeper into any of the negatives if there are any to call out. If you're interested int he full-written version, you can skim through that here: www.audioadvice.com/videos-reviews/bowers-and-wilkins-px7-carbon-edition-noise-cancelling-wireless-over-ear-headphone-review/ Thanks for watching.
