Bowhunting Whitetail Deer: Big Virginia Buck Goes Down! 136" Giant!

Looks like a place in SWVA me and my dad used to hunt on the Smyth/Tazewell county line we both harvested big bucks with giant mass like that in that place. It was a choke point where ridges came together surrounded by thickets. My dad's gone to be with lord now but this place is similar to a place we loved to go and it reminded me of those hunts with him, congrats on that Giant hope you and your dad have more hunts like this because they are special and it isn't about the buck.

It was too far from that area, this was in Botetourt Co. That spot sounds a lot like where I killed this buck. I’m glad this hunt reminded you of good times with your dad. I live in Southwest Virginia and the bucks have been getting bigger and better quality every year. I hunt public land and have seen and killed some monster bucks. I also let many nice bucks walk so they get the chance to maybe become a trophy. The way I see it why kill a buck that's not a trophy for me yet when he could become a big trophy or already be that trophy for someone else. I let a few decent 6 to 8 points walk every year but when I do kill a buck it's usually a monster buck with a lot of mass and heavy antlers, plus I can always video or take pictures of those smaller bucks and have the memories hunting isn't about just killing deer to me.

Boom! perfect shot placement. Everyone should take note. Straight up the front leg. What a beast, excellent footage self-filming is really hard and you got the kill shot and walk in on camera with a recovery. Thumbs up.

I was in SWVA as well. I've been hunting out there for years now, since high school, in the Botetourt area. I love these mountain bucks, theres no telling what's going to show up, especially during the rut. People underestimate the quality of whitetail Virginia holds. Thanks for watching!

This past season was actually my first (33yrs old) and i was actually able to harvest my first deer during rifle season up in Craig. Love the videos though man, especially being local, keep it up!

I generally spend most of our time up there in the Jefferson National, this was on a small piece we are looking at buying. The landowner gave us the green light to hunt it while in town, luckily for us. haha. I will be moving back up to VA this year, so I will (thankfully) be able to do far more hunting up in that area this coming season. @@PiNeMandSTiCKeM truest statement I have seen on youtube right here Virginia has some studs man I've got 2 on the wall on the wall over 22 inches wide and 18 inches tall. 1 from Sussex county the other from Lunenburg county. People don't usually associate big whitetail with Virginia they always think midwest, Virginia is a hidden gem in my opinion. :) best of luck the rest of the year, safe hunting.

That was the Rage Trypan. Great heads, only had one animal make it out of sight with them last year (and that was a doe that only went 60yds)

You ever have problems with people wondering on to your property from national forest. I have property in rockbridge with national forest on 2 sides. We catch people on camera and hunting property line all the time

I wish it was. It was scored by the P&Y guys at the Virginia Outdoorsman Show a couple years back. 5 1/2” bases, 20” inside spread, and only 1” of deductions. He was a beaut.

You do realize you admitted to violating the game law while on video? Attractants like Rack Getter that use deer urine are illegal in Virginia due to CWD, and have been for several years. If the Game Commission sees this you will quite likely pay a the fine and have your license suspended in Virginia for at least a year, and potentially wherever else you hunt if they share information. Know the law.

Oh I'm well aware of the urine law that was recently passed here in VA. I actually reached out to Rack Getter specifically for this hunt to get a shipment of their synthetic product in because I knew what the new law stated here in VA. Appreciate ya speaking up though for what you thought was a mistake. We have to hold each other accountable to protect our tradition. I can assure you I would never do anything that put my rights as a hunter at risk, no rack will ever be worth that. Be safe, and have a great season!
