Starting at 01:35, this topic is by far the least covered, extremely important aspect that for whatever reason does not get explained. For all the hunting videos available, anatomy analysis, wound channel, and blood trailing are hard to find. Even when an animal expires within my sight, I always backtrack and blood trail. I have no idea why nobody gives this tip. It is all about learning and applying knowledge for future hunts. So many variables, how much blood, what color what consistency, at what height is is on vegetation. Does the blood run parallel with the track, is it on both sides. Does the blood trail go away and reappear. This all means different things. Really glad you will take the time and dissect and discuss this. A greater understanding by hunters will result in higher rates of finding wounded animals. Thanks again for doing this.

Another great video , you really express well what most hunters do about strategizing for the hunt. I think that is some of the greatest moments just analyzing the scouting trips and figuring out the best strategies , this video really expresses it well , thanks again Bernie, and good luck on your next hunt 👍

Stay strong bud you're the man!! I'm really looking forward to learning the science end of the hunt as it will not only pay off for bear shots but also deer. Will be great to pass on to all those "I know everything hunters we all know" even if they claim they don't listen 😉 So who's to say you couldn't have still brought it up for human consumption 😂😂

It’s a weird spring. It was really warm and ice out was a month early yet my established baits didn’t see any action until May 10th, and even now they’re less active than usual. I shot a turkey a couple of days ago that was full of acorns and I’m wondering if the bears are on them too.

Yes it was strange here as well, same experience.

They always play games at the border with bait, especially if you crossed at Ft. Frances. I stopped bringing it up. They turned me around two years in a row.

Great Vid! (as usual) Bernie. thoughts on fish guts/scent for interior (woods/non costal) black bears?

Never had decent luck with fish gut or whole fish. Not sure why, it seems like it should work. I think bear prefer live fish I guess.
