What's wrong with you people, hating on David exclusively but not mentioning what she's up to? She gets too close, too touchy-feely. She's insulting him, tabloid trash kind of scathing shit. He's obviously uncomfortable around her and is giving her a hard time on purpose. If a man was doing the same as she is to a woman, you'd be calling him a lech.

I agree. David always seemed like a sweet person too. Also yeah why talk about bad press ? Unless she hoped to annoy him ? Why ask what he thought people “expected” ? No wonder he laughed out loud.

She was touchy-feely because he was actually a friend of her and Bob and attended her wedding. I'm just guessing he was on the defence because the band was kind of crappy and getting bad press.

All that pathetic pawing and bending over his leg.. Bowie wasn't having any of it, he should have knocked her on the floor. The smart guys kept her at bay, they knew she was a Groupie. Poor Michael Hutchence, Lamb to the slaughter, Paula and Bob finished him off.

I don't think he rated women very highly on an intellectual level generally speaking, apart from a few exceptions, one being his wife Iman of course...if you watch his You Tube interviews the vast majority of them were with male journalists, especially discussions about the deeper meaning of life, philosophy, etc....Apart from the interviews with Valerie Singleton and Mavis Nicholson, there are no serious interviews with women.....there are plenty light-hearted interviews with female journalists where he humorous them as airheads but that's it! Compare this to Elton John and Mick Jagger where there are plenty of interesting, smart interviews with women. He never gave his first wife any credit for helping create his Ziggy Stardust persona, rather he airbrushed her out if his life..... I admit that Paula does herself no favours, shamelessly flirting as she always does, Bowie wasn't having any of it!

@@nic123ification You know him well enough to say he didn’t rate women as intelligent ? what the,?
@cn_8622 жыл бұрын
@@nic123ification I think you too kinda airbrushed out when Bowie was still happily married to Angie he did fix interviewers multiple times from trying to discredit Angie as "a model or an actress" and some kind of dumb airhead, and asserted that she is "an intellectual" and a strong woman, fix interviewers who got her name wrong and her roles wrong multiple time. He did not want to mention Angie later because it was a messy divorce in his private life that involved his son and Angie going rogue in the last few years of their marriage, which right after their 10 years gag order she went on and on about their private lives, lots of which she has later taken back that she was rather bitter at the time of speaking, including claiming that she came up with Ziggy - no, he came up with it, she helped him realizing it with mostly connections behind the scene paper pushing all that along with other designers & makeup artists he collaborated with at the time (his makeup artist was a woman whom he mentioned & credited all the time). She was a big part of his success, yes, and he could and should have appreciated her as much as other collaborators, but you have to factor in his private matters in this too. For his respect for women and their intelligence, Paula Yates (the interviewer in this case) was also Bowie's close friend and he just kinda messed around with her in this, during a period in which he was behaving all kinda prickly and not-so-serious to relieve his 80s stadium pop star image; he spoke highly of her multiple times out of this, including how she was victimized more than what her faults in her life were. Coco Schwab his PA is literally his best friend who is a strong intelligent woman that was deemed by many of people he worked with as a hard, stern woman, and she was a rock for him during all the hard times. You can listen to him standing up for Nina Simone, Tina Turner against how people discrediting these women as belonged-in-the past, helped & encourage their career, respected their choices & mental health & assured Nina she's genius while he's indeed not, but more just a scheming rockstar wannabe multiple times during the hardest part of her life as he supported her both monetarily & emotionally through her dealing with bipolar. He had a great interview with Susan Sarandon, whom he hanged out with romantically and was friend on & off until their death, who remarked he always appreciated her "dynamite" intelligence. He was a great friend with Tracy Emin & admired Francois Hardy a great deal. He admired Pixies co-ed lineup & explicitly wanted female players played in his band as multi-instrumentalists because he explicitly stated women are usually undermined in the music scene while they are totally capable, and praised Gail Ann Dorsey his long-time bassist all the time for her talent. He also, very explicitly, quote-on-quote, said that women can do anything that men do, and mostly way better, except in maybe situations when it's only brute forces and no brains. He explicitly made China Girl to portraying how ridiculous the fetishization of Asian woman is & It's No Game pt 1 having a strong female Japanese voice to again debunks that. He very explicitly appreciated Tony Basil for her work and collabed with her multiple times. He has given explicit praises for the complexities in works of and intelligence in Bette Midler, Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Lorde,...did not discredit Madonna's artistry,... As for Iman, he appreciated her for being very outwardly intelligent and gave no qualms of discussing with him about AIDS epidemic and social struggles in like their 2nd date; it's not because she's his wife that her intelligence is appreciated, but shes' his wife because she is intelligent and he appreciated that - if you think otherwise it's quite your own issue. The fact that he doesn't have a lot of great interviews with female "journalists" kinda say more about whoever was interviewing him and what people see him that they chose who to give him. Even Barbara Walters was giving him a hard time to be good asking him invasive irrational questions about his sexuality. I don't know where you stumbled on with Bowie, but clearly, you picked and chose things to airbrush out.
