This movie shot me straight back to my adolescent exploration of love. After seeing it I went through days of processing old, deep-set emotions I pushed away at the time to not feel so much pain. See I can't speak for all French people buy I can speak for myself I grew up in hong Kong going to an international schools with most of my friends being French and or Asian. There have been many a time when I've spoken Cantonese to my Chinese friends and they've corrected me to laughingly show off. There have been many a time when I've done the same. This is just something that happens when your in a competitive environment with multilingual kids, we compete with each other but we also learn from each other. Don't go accusing people of things without knowing them. Also one of my best friends is Vietnamese and he talks shit about people in Vietnamese whenever they ask him to say their name in Vietnamese or whatever, but it's always in jest, do I hate him for it? No. Do I do the same thing? Yes. Does everyone who speaks an uncommon language in do it? Yes. And do we all laugh about it and never take the joke to far? Yes. Also French is fucking beautiful it's meant to be shown off.

OMFG!!! I LOVE the way they love each other. Regardless of any shipping ... I really don't think they are in love (in the sexual/romantic sense) ... but it is evident that they love each other a LOT. In my opinion Armie sees Timmy as his ''little and fragile'' friend, towards whom he has a kind of protective instinct. Timmy perceives this and has consequently developed a great affection towards Armie (honestly ... who wouldn't develop a love towards someone who loves and protects you?) Having seen the movie several times, I can say that I could never imagine any other actors in these beautifully acted roles. Kudos to all involved in this bittersweet, heartful movie. I know I've been waiting for so long! I'm driving about an hour to see it on December 22 when it comes out in Boston, otherwise I would have to wait until January for it to be playing somewhat close to me. But it gives me time to reread the book!

The rumors about sexual abuse etc have been disproved. The police and district attorney both conducted separate investigations and found no evidence of abuse, rape, violence, cannibalism, or anything. The lawyer for the two women who made the accusations dropped their case after one of them admitted that she *agreed* to have sex with Armie several time, and the other one had been having an affair with him for nearly four years. The rumors and allegations were about revenge and trying to get him in trouble.

such an amazing movie. am i the only one who just really wanted to hug Elio at the end....actually i was the one who really needed a hug by the end lol
