Toured there right after the Festival ended, so got to try the special releases without fighting the crowds. This was the feistiest of them all!

This Talisker Skye I got off of Amazon is amazing! It's like a moss root and seaweed salad!

I've been pronouncing it incorrectly stressing BOW.... thanks for setting me straight on the pronunciation. And I'm sure it's very good

Great review. I feel exactly the same about Bowmore. I’ve been to Islay twice and the last we finally went to visit the distillery and everything we had was underwhelming, compared with Kilchoman, Bruichladdich, etc. Interestingly the first Bowmore that I really enjoyed was the SMWS 3.349 18yr. Wonderful whisky. PS: Absolutely love Hidden Drams! The Rare Whisky Fridays were what I always look forward to watching. 🥃👍🏼

i LOOOOVE Bowmore 12yo as my daily. i have at least 6 bottle in stock other than 2 i have opened readily availble in my study and kitchen. There isnt a single malt out there that matches the bang for buck from the 12yo. And i have em all. LagaTaliLapArdBunnaKilCaol

Bowmore 12 was the bottle that got me into Scotch, before that I was strictly a bourbon guy

Interesting. It's the one Islay I don't really like.

Daniel, thanks for all you do and all the work done via the Vault and the Tribe. I am getting into tea for dry weeks. What teas do you recommend? I am a black tea drinker more than herbal, but want to get a variety for dry weeks. I don't like green tea. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you tried Yorkshire Tea (black tea)?

I’ve also found the 12 to be a little too tame, picked up an 18 year and it’s a great example of how transformative a few more years brings to the palate.

Went to Islay a couple of years ago. Visited five of the distillerie. Bowmore was the last and very disappointing compared to the others. I'd not tried much of their range before and it just felt ... I don't know, lacklustre? Too polished?

Nice, I love me a Double oaked whiskey...but 19 years Double oaked?!?...Seems a bit much.
@WhiskeyVault10 күн бұрын
it's definitely a really high new oak impact for an old scotch.

@@WhiskeyVault Hopefully you can get your hands on the double double oaked from Woodford. I got one at $200 and its.....well.....you can be the judge once you do a tastings and another story lol.

Im a big fan of Bowmore..... buuuut.......Their standards are a bit underwhelming the 18 is my favorite. Old Bowmore can be fantastic. But the price has gone out of hand as we all know.

I have ALWAYS thought a "Scotch" needed to be aged in used (ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, PX,etc) barrels...guess that was an incorrect understanding of reality... 😆
