Sand-end is a lovely village next to the distillery on the coast near Banff. Glassaugh is the estate where it is located (Glen is a marketing affectation). The land was once owned by Gen. Abercrombie who commanded the British army in N America in the 1750's till the French defeated him. He returned and built a windmill to help improve the estate. This was later replaced by a big water powered mill that then became the distillery. So if the Gen had not been kicked out of N America by the French he would not have built a mill and the distillery not founded. Vive la France!

If you are in a lucky enough place to listen to and follow your heart, then you are luckier than most! You owe it to yourself to pursue these callings even if it's in small increments without pressure! Kudos to you.

I picked up a bottle of this on a trip and remember being very sad when it was finished. Other than the 700ml bottle size this outperformed and was a pleasant surprise!

If you can achieve a millimeter of shift towards your goals, you'll always be growing. Asking someone to move mountains almost always ends in failure, but seeing incremental change nets positive gains.

Love the stories and this format. I also think you should include a variety of videos, such as whiskey blind tastings, or any kind of news of the whiskey market and where its going or just whiskey news in general. i think it would be interesting to see seeing I'm a long time WhiskeyVault watcher. Thanks!

Sandend is a great fruit forward whisky. I bought a Longmorn 16 based on your view of it, but it was a newer version. Been watching since 2017. Great to see the evolution of this channel's whiskey journey. Character and content is why so many watch. Good on you.

Glenglassaugh 12 was one of my favorite discoveries the last few months. Then I picked up a bottle of Sandend, and I am even more impressed. I love the maritime aspect to it with a mix of custard flavor. It's hard to explain. But this is one of my go to's now and it's very reasonably priced (relatively). In short, Glenglassaugh is one of my top distilleries. This and Glendronach is a powerful 1-2 punch from Rachel Barrie.

Great advice. Sometimes we need to slow down and work. One day at a time. Tomorrow’s another day. I sat down tonight after a long week clicked on KZbin app with a wee dram of Gleglassaugh and this was the first video in my queue. Amazing how algorithms work.

Everything Rachel produces is great. I enjoyed Sandend but loved their Portsoy -- reminds me of a Campbeltown.

Manzania is a drier sherry that has flor ( yeast)and a lot of nutty complexity and a creamy texture. And yes it has a sea note that is very prominent.

I have bottles of both Sandend & Portsoy --- I actually prefer the Portsoy, even though people rave about the Sandend. It will be interesting to see where this Distillery goes. I have to salute you for this video -- thanks for being so open and taking the risk you magnificent bastard.

I just cant see the hype and accolades for this bottle....got it 6 months ago...paid $80 for it in NC and was excited as it was Whiskey advocate whiskey of the year 2023. I mean with a little water it is good, but no way i would make it a whiskey of the year. Just not my cup of tea i guess. Again not bad, but not amazing either.
