I think they also added lore for SNES Donut Plains 3 in Mario Kart 8, and GBA Boo Lake as well: the former having a broken bridge and the later having a majority of the track collapsed into the water below.

That’s not even the worst thing. Wiis bowsers castle theme is based off of maple treeways theme, and there are dead trees in the background, implying that bowser demolished maple treeway and built his castle where it once was.

Another theory is neo bowser city was toads turnpike that bowser destroyed and built his city over it, and it would also explain why toads turnpike in mario kart 8 looks and feels so different cause it was rebuilt in a different location

Cocunut mall had lore, bc the cheese cutter stairs were in the wii and 3ds version, but the switch and tour versiob replaces it with a decorated mario stairs, and i assume the cheese cutter stairs were like a temporairly kind of stairs, or it was during construction
