The Mongols at their height under Genghis Khan, had a maximum of 100,000 to 130,000 Mongolian men, and you can add a few more thousand for captured enemy slaves such as engineers, workers and labourers and soldiers from other nomadic peoples. Every male member of the Mongol society was meant to be a warrior. He was also meant to have at least 4 horses. Genghis Khan organised the Mongols according to the decimal system. Out of every 10 men in the Mongol army, 6 were horse archers and 4 were heavy lancers. At their height, The Mongols dominated China, the Middle East, large portions of Russia, and most of Eastern Europe and almost all of Asia with the exception of India, and Indo-China. If the Mongols had however, decided to extend beyond Eastern Europe, there wasn't a single power in Europe strong enough to repulse them.

Contrary to common belief, Temujin was a pretty benevolent and merciful ruler. Much like all of eastern Asians they do not take disrespect very well, especially by rejecting hospitality. Temujin was very forward thinking in terms of economy and political systems. He tried to establish trade partnerships with borderings kingdoms many and often. It was only when his emissaries were killed or treated poorly did he exterminate an entire population. He practiced freedom of religion, one of the first leaders to base his military system off of meritocracy instead of familial lineage, meaning you can be born from slaves from a completely foreign nation but rise to the rank of general through tactical aptitude or pure fighting ability. Much like our military here in the US. Except Temujin had this idea over a thousand years ago. Way ahead of his time in that respect, and many others. He held values such as valor and loyalty above all else though. Granting amnesty to many opposing commanders and soldiers who exhibited martial prowess. Subjugating kingdoms that didn’t resist without any bloodshed. When he took offense, that was the equivalent to summoning the devil and his armies. He brutalized entire cities in Russia, during the Siberian winters mind you. A feat that has never been replicated to this day. Not even the Nazis couldn’t accomplish that. He paraded around the decimated cities with their decapitated nobles heads. He would lay nobles on a wooden platform, lay another wooden platform on top of the said nobles and dine on top of them with his generals as company, crushing and suffocating the prisoners to death. He also boiled people alive for fear tactics during sieges. Was one of the first to use biochemical warfare, by launching corpses into fortified cities which also doubled as psychological warfare. To name his military accomplishments would be exhausting but to be fair, a lot of them include achievements by his generals. Another testament to his great military doctrine. Without his meritocracy system, I wouldn’t have such a long comment to write. He conquered five times the area that Alexander the Great conquered. And a vast majority of his battles, his enemy had the superior numbers. He won through sheer military tactics and the overpowered cavalry archers. A steppe nomad was born on a saddle. They slept, ate, and pooped on horseback. It was said they could accurately shoot a target at 300 meters on horseback. So not only did his horse archers have superior accuracy, they were all better riders. Another advantage the mongol horse archers had was their weaponry. The composite bow was superior in range and accuracy, compared to the rest of the world. And compact enough to use on horseback. If the opposing army had limited cavalry, the casualty rates were extremely lopsided. Though the majority of the Mongol contingency in their army’s were horse archers, a third of it was heavy cavalry, meaning the Eastern European knights stood very little chance. The Mongolian retinue we’re sort of the “special forces” but the majority of their conquering forces were foreign militia of their subjugated kingdoms. Especially during sieges.

They are the best thing to happen to music especially metal in decades and this is just their first album. FYI Genghis conquered more area than any other person ever, an area one and a half times the size of the United States.

Who would win a battle between the Vikings and the Mongols? Interesting question, but in my opinion, it's an easy question. Both fought fearlessly, both like to cheat, both learn from their enemies. The Vinings was larger, but the Mongols had better range weapons, better discipline, better cavalry, and better organization. IMHO the Vikings would lose, even if they were not outnumbered, and they would have been. There has been no army more superior to anything else in their time than the Mongols and it was Djigis Khan who united the many local tribes and created this unstoppable force. Oh, and I come from the land of the Vikings!

And wherever they went they completely replaced the local style of warfare. Poland. Hungary. Russia. The Middle East.
@wilkfenris5 жыл бұрын
It's not so simple. The location of the battle is key. Place the Vikings in the middle of the steppe... the Mongols will win. But... put Mongols in the middle of a rocky, steep fjord... a different perspective ;) You have to remember that each nation developed a fighting style appropriate to the terrain in which they had to fight. That is why "Vikings" moved mainly by boats. It was faster than on foot ;) It gave them a significant advantage, because they could hit quickly and by surprise, at a selected point. The Mongols were actually doing the same... only on horseback ;)
@myprophet15 жыл бұрын
At one point they traveled and fought side by side.
@timberthus25625 жыл бұрын
@@wilkfenris That's true, but also keep in mind that the mongol army had experience in almost every type of terrain since they conquered a fifth of the world. The mongols would be much more adaptable than the vikings. Not to mention the fact that they were hundreds of years apart, so mongols obviously had access to more technology, better equipment, etc.
@jaranjaran64525 жыл бұрын
@@wilkfenris Mongols and Huns (ancestors of Mongols) were land warriors. I accept Mongols would lose in maritime war, but Mongols invaded Tibetans and further marched over Himalaya and conquered and ruled India for centuries. I never heard any other warriors made war in Hymalaya, except some small border mishups these days between India and Pakistan. Another advantage of Mongols was fatality of their archery was 200-300 meters which was never beaten in the Medieval age and also allowed them greater maneuver to fight in many fronts from different directions.

Mongolai is very beautiful landscape country. Mongolai is located in the central asia and between Russai and China and very peaceful country. Chinggis is ocean in English. Chinggis khaan Chinggis has established the beggest and beggest empire on the earth and he could established this great empire within 25 years and the territories in Euroasia are 2.5 times bigger than Roman empire and Great Britain empire and this great empire has paved the mordern world and Mongolain empire was existed from the beginning of 13th centure to the end of 14th centure and this time of Mongolain empires have been described as the "PAX MONGOLICA" or Peace of Mongolia by the internatoinal historians, because Mongolain great khaans have vanished the bride kidnapping, teen age girls trafficking as of bride and teen age girls are forced to marriage and silk road was being more safe no robbers and stopped wars between religions and distroyed completely the Islamic assassins (Old man of the Maintain) . Why is the Mongolain woman's social rank was very high during that time and it is still exist now. Of course, at the beginning of Mongolain conquering, a lot of brutality was done because other nations made him angry so that he started his conquering but mean thing is: Mongolain never did conquest for slavary and wealths and for exmple, Mongolain army has defeated the European united army in 1241 on the Legnica steppes of Poland and there were no forces to fight against the Mongolia in the earth and whole europe was no protection but Batu Khaan did not want go more into the Europe because he needed to go for prosecuting from Hungarians. I think a fight between the Mongols and the Viking would depend, in part, on the environment. Yes, the Mongols greatest strength was their cavalry, and so they absolutely dominated battlefields with wide open plains/steppes and lots of grass (which Mongol horses evolved as their primary diet). It would be a severe disadvantage for the Mongols to fight outside of that kind of environment. Though it's not a deal breaker, both Vikings and Mongols had proven to be very adaptable in a wide array of different settings. Though I think the Mongols would still come out the victor. Not just because of numbers, but because they were led by brilliant generals (including, of course, Genghis himself) who were masters at army organizations, tactics, coordination, and logistics in battle. Also, depending on the time, they also had a much bigger economy and some of the most advanced weaponry/engineers from China and the Middle East.

Temujin and Temuchin Khaan. So perhaps learn it correctly before trying to "correct" others. Dschingis Khan is a German band and misspelling of Genghis Khan, which is then a misspelling of those I listed.
