I think its called Cordyceps but yeah your right this is probably the most realistic version of infected as we would get in real life.

First time coming across your channel, but TLOU1 and TLOU2 are my favorite games of all time(probably why the algo fed this to me). I'm an old fart whose been gaming a LOOOONG time, veteran as well - father of two(they're adults now - son is currently serving in Kuwait - daughter working on her PhD) I only mention that because I think it relevant to the experience of playing the game. This game provides a remarkable experience for anyone who plays it, but it does tend to hit different for parents for obvious reasons. You said at the start that you love to get immersed in the games. You've chosen one of the best IMO. I love this story and the characters. And I always love seeing peoples perspectives that are new to it. I'm subscribed and here for the ride. Thanks for giving this game a chance and sharing your experience.

And when you were saying how Sara reminded you of your daughter, I was like "oh no". What a crazy way to start a game! And it was absolutely hilarious to hear you stress out if there was any loot for over an hour and a half 😂😂. Don't worry, you'll need to loot or you won't survive haha. And one and only backseat gamer tip: Always save at least one shiv. You'll see why soon and it will make for more enjoyable LP :)

Hell yeah I’ve been waiting for this can’t wait for next episode! A little tip for when you grab and enemy, instead of immediately silently taking them out you can move them to a secluded area where you can’t be seen and take them out silently there but they will fight back and get out of your grasp if you’re not fast enough!

Nice, this is going to be a wild ride with you, so looking forward to it! I am so glad that you actually explore(I mean, I should've assumed, I saw part of the RDR2 playthrough... until you got tired and it started taking longer between episodes lol) because then you will see a lot of small world building convos like the ones you just saw(You just missed one possible convo option in the quarantine zone, before the explosion) :) Especially with Eliie, my advise, spoiler free, is that if you see that, after exploring for a bit, Ellie just goes and stands still somewhere , approach her and you will get some interactions, especially after a tense situation or a big fight. Oh and save materials, shivs, etc. Especially since you are no Hard :) Now exploring, in Hard mode you need to be very careful, in the building where you find the spores for the first time, you missed 2 kitchens that are possible loot locations and missed 2 bullets beside the guy you shot, even when you stood by it and aimed around lol, I was laughing my ass off(Some locations have loot only in the lower difficulties)... it is very important to get everything otherwise you will reach a specific point around the middle of the game where it will be impossible to go through if you miss a lot of stuff previously in the game and you didn't save ammo, sneaking and looting are critical in Hard mode and above. Oh, and remember, you don't need to kill everything, sometimes they will drop loot, but if you are in a critical state of ammo or health, you can sneak by most enemies

@@Bowskii From where you saw the execution of the 2 infected people, you walked to the right towards the guys that talked to you, that convo was on the left side instead, it was 2 guys talking about whatever, and when Joel approaches one says "Hey, what are you looking at ahole!" and the other one shush him and apologizes to Joel and when you move away he say "Don't you know who that is?" :) Just a bit of a show of how feared Joel was in the zone.

I’m not sure you know this already since it’s not mentioned in the game but what makes TLOU scary and terrifying is the fact that the thing that caused the apocalypse in the game is a real fungus called Cordyceps. In our world it affects insects, mostly ants, by taking control of their brain, making them climb to a high spot of a plant or branch, from which the fungus begins to grow from the insect’s body and then releasing spores to infect many others in the vicinity. It’s very disturbing but no other apocalypse in any game or movie is as scientificallly plausible as the one in TLOU. Luckily, Cordyceps is almost impossible to infect humans as of now but if it does evolve someday, we have this game to prepare us lmao! This game doesn’t call them zombies but they are called infected. Not sure you got it the first time but if you go back and watch the opening credits scene again, you’ll realize that the animation in it is of a fungus growing. I believe I heard that the team actually grew a real fungus in a bathroom and recorded it growing specifically for the game’s intro as a timelapse, which is just pure dedication!!

My favorite game is The Witcher 3 and I watched all of your witcher 3 videos back in day. I can't explain how glad I am to see you started my second favorite game. I love The Last of Us both Part 1 and 2. I think you'll also love them. You can watch the HBO's The Last of Us show after you finish the game. First season is about this game and second season is on its way. It will probably be released in mid 2025. It is a great adaptation. Personally I 'died' the first time when I played it because I lost sight of Tommy when we ran for our lifes in the city in the beginning 😄 Though I have to give you a little bit of shit, man 😄 You were going on and on about loot for the first 45 min and when there was actual loot (bullets) next to the guy in the building whose mask broke you missed it 😄😄 And you continue about loot and I'm like "Yeah, RIGHT BEHIND YOU!" 😄😄 Hope there's gonna be a new episode soon!

Glad you enjoyed the EP and yeah this game isn't very easy to see the loot sadly. I wanna definitely get as much as I can but we prob will miss stuff just the nature of a blind experience. I didn't even see it in the edits either I totally thought we got everything we possibly could. Must have been super quick to show up. Not sure how useful the random loot stuff is but bullets definitely help and the stuff we can read.

The game is terrible optimised for PC, so do not worry about fps drops haha Lots of pepole loves this game. For me it is an ok game in fact i liked the series more; I think the gameplay is really oudated, but it has his charm!

I def had a few issue so far I talked about it in EP2 I had a really bad issue with the hair textures loading in so crazy it actually took me about 20 mins to get the second EP started up I had to keep exiting out the game and back in until the hair textures turned normal. But I will say once I got it started the game hangs in there really great minor FPS stuff but nothing consistently bad.

I'd say the grounded difficulty is the most immersive experience, it's not super hard (even for a first time playing, personal experience), you just have to be careful, if I remeber correctly, it still shows the controls, just not the health bar and guns UI, and the listen mode is kind of a cheat

I was extremely close to picking the hardest difficulty. I'm more or less worried that the game will end up being super easy in time when I get the hang of it. But I also wanted to experience what the listening mode was before I picked a harder one. I wouldn't exactly call it a cheat id call it a handicap more or less or a advantage since its in the game and not modded in. But I kind of regret not picking grounded at first and trying it and if it was too much just dropping it down since we probably cant change it higher now. But its totally cool because I def see myself playing this again.

oh most def! I didn't realize the second one wasn't on PC just yet. But I'm stoked to play them both. I think next game we will def do higher difficulty.

highly recommend controller, it’s designed as a PlayStation game originally so it feels intuitive.

there are also a lot of cinematic moments (when it says to press X to look at things) where the camera is wonky with mouse.

this game was really pushing it when i loaded into the game they highly recommended it. I'm gonna try to check it out in EP 3 I'm just a bit ahead atm. So far the PC controls are pretty smooth I had to keybind a bunch of stuff though. having X as the look is odd since it seems like we don't have much time to press that button so I binded it to Q to make it quicker.

This might sound crazy but hooking up a controller fixed the texture issues which makes absolutely zero sense to me. So as long as I have a controller plugged in the USB it's good?! Such a weird thing and makes no sense. I will probably try to use a controller since it's gonna be plugged in
