Based on Jeff's review I bought an X8, mine arrived with a twisted upper limb and limbs so out of tiller that I had to nock a full inch above square to the shelf to shoot a clean hole when I paper tuned it. I have been making selfbows for over 26 years, my bows have won over a dozen national championships so I know what a bow is supposed to do. I sent the bow back. I bought a black hunter longbow and recurve to test; the first longbow came with the limbs so out of alignment the string was 1/2" off the shelf to the left. I sent it back and got a great bow the next time. The Black Hunter recurve was as good a shooting bow as I have ever owned or made.

I bought one of these after watching Jeff Phillips video on it. I’m new to trad shooting and have gotten a bunch of shooting over the last 3 weeks. Bought 6 Gold Tip Warriors at a 400 spine cut to 30” w/50gr inserts the bow shoots darts with 200/250/300gr tips. With 200gr tips my total arrow weight is 537gr and my bow is shooting 45 @ 28”. I REALLY luv your videos and seeing how you rework bows. Your videos a few other trad guys videos are what got me into the traditional field. Wanna shoot a bunch before ordering a custom so I know what I’m gonna want. Once I do a call is surely gonna be made to Great Plains!!!

About to go look at these at 30lbs (I have lower spine issues and my Invicta compound is now up for sale…). I still want to shoot but not waste money on a high end trad bow if in a year’s time I have to give up all together. Really appreciate you guys doing this, it’s more than just helpful, the attention to detail you gave it helps when I go look, especially that glue line crack. And, like everyone else on YT the arrows are where I’ll spend my money…..thanks fellas……oh…and subbed! (Steve in the UK) 🤙

I was impressed with how quiet that bow was too. Also, the genuine impressions you guys had when the proper arrow came out of the bow. You may get the bow to the published weight with the tillering change. All very insightful changes ahead for that project and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Shane, take a minute and look at the brand Deerseeker. The Hawk recurve is a 3pc takedown with a faux wood grain laminate under clear glass that looks amazing. After setting the bow up for my wife and shooting it I decided to get one for myself. We now have to of them and they are fantastic. Best bang for you buck. Almost all entry model or low cost bows are black glass limbs. These limbs look like a really nice laminate under clear glass. Take a look and I think it may be one you guys would like to review

According to both Amazon and the Sanlida Outdoors website, the reccomended brace height is 7-8", so maybe having it set very high at 8 25" accounted for the +3# of draw weight and the over positive tiller? I'd be interested in the specs and perfomance at 7.5"

4:25 Meaning the limb tips are still not strong enough, even though there are wood overlays on the limb tips. The answer is that fast-flight strings are not accepted. Only tips that are reinforced with glass, phenolic, bakelite, and other materials are able to withstand low-stretch string materials.

Serious and valid question for you, What kind of guarantee are you doin with reworkin one of these chinese bows? Just curious to liability if one explodes or breaks on someone and hurts them. I know a few bowyers reworkin and resellin these china bows these days to fill the sales gaps but has anyone thought about repercussions?

Excellent question! Nik is the one reworking and selling them here at GP. I discussed that with him yesterday. He hasn't completely decided which route he's gonna take, but one thought he mentioned is to offer to do the rework for free on a warranty so the customer would just pay the price on Amazon and then he'd do the rework free of charge. How do you feel about that option? What are your thoughts on the warranty of them?
@sierraridgereaper
@sierraridgereaper 6 ай бұрын
@@greatplainsbow thats awesome you guys are thinkin about that. Just based on my thinking about how things are these days with sue happy people I wondered how that may effect the liability issues. Because you cant control the QC of the glue ups, the glass or riser mfg and end up putting hands on another companies product by reworking it I believe that leaves the liability in your hands. Im all for reworking these things as many need it badly and Ive done quite a few myself but I had a guy ask me if it breaks who is responsible to replace and I didnt have a legit answer so it made me question whether or not I should be doing it putting myself in the position of being liable, not just for replacement but if the person was injured then how will that play out. Just lookin out for you guys as it was something that was on my mind after the last one I did.

Thanks! I really appreciate that! It is definitely a risk a person takes for sure, but the reward is that we're putting bows in people's hands that are properly tuned and backed by customer support so they can have an excellent first experience. Hello, Say you wanted to reduced this 48# down to lower 40s# .Would focusing on the recurve tip are to reduce the weight reduce the stacking or likely cause a Too weak end section?
@greatplainsbow
@greatplainsbow 20 күн бұрын
@@str8sh2ter that's an excellent question. In theory and probably also in action it would reduce the stacking, but it would make the limb unstable and likely cause a failure. The performance of a bow is determined in the limb profile by the bowyer when the bow is glued up. After it is in it's final shape you must remove material evenly along the entire length of the limb or it will compromise the bow

@@jerrypoling3106 Left eye dominate right handed I got OEELINES Airobow 54 inch (54 inch clone of a Bear Super Grizzly) I use with a safer Flemish twist sring as bow came with an unreached endless loop B-55 but I only get with a 24 inch draw a 37 pound on a 45 pound bow. I would have needed a 55/60 pound of same bow to get 45 pounds and model only stopes at 50 pounds. So I found Youth Longbow from Great Plains Archery in hickory and is an amazing bow. Only thing I would have done different I would have asked for Osage or seen if heavy G4/G10 was an available option so I could have a heavier bow, I may have to use an AMS mounting device and some riser weights on bow for more stability.

Do not Get DeerSeaker's Deerhunter bow, reasons are bows all in higher weights and 30 pound bows come in at 35 pounds and all lighter bows are stuck between 20--25 pounds for a 28 inch draw. Bow is so poor for same price as a Sanlida, even a lower end KAINOKAI $89 semi-revurve/R&D bow is going to be better.
