Even so, the formation proved vulnerable without fighter escort and suffered high attrition rates.

@@pact-md5wpthe reason Britain wanted to do night bombings is because they were bloodthirsty civilian killers that wanted to wage an endless war on Germany. Churchills only goal was the total annihilation of a German state, he even refused any peace talks that could have ended the war early. Once again, the “good guys” ain’t so good.

Very few know how dangerous it was to be in the Army Air Corps. The casualty rates were astronomical.

Ah yes the highly advanced strategy of grouping up. My teammates in video games still haven’t figured this one out. In all honesty though really interesting tactic I’m commenting for the algorithm.

Who thought that putting a bunch if big slow moving targets in a tight formation was a good idea ??? The german AA must have had a field day with that
@dragon12234
@dragon12234 Ай бұрын
Eh, German AA was pretty bad, as was all AA of the day until the Allies invented the Proximity fuse. A big factor of that was that the crew had to manually set the timer on the fuses of the flak shells, so they basically had to guess at the altitude of the enemy aircraft, and if the aircraft group flew at different altitudes (like in this formation), or changed altitude, they had to reguess the timing for each shell. The allies proximity fuse meanwhile removed all the guesswork and made sure that the AA flak shell always exploded at the right altitude, and allowed them to make it so that artillery shells exploded above the ground, maximizing effectiveness
@HarryWHill-GA
